A Tribute to Uncle Olu Jacobs
I loved Uncle Olu Jacobs deeply because he was a truly detribalized artist. He never let tribe decide which role he would play. Whether the character was Yoruba, Hausa or Igbo, he gave it his full commitment and brought out its best.
I especially admired how he could take on issues in Igbo culture within a play and handle them with respect and understanding. That is what makes a full actor: someone who can step into another people's story and tell it truthfully.
To this generation of actors, let us learn from Uncle Olu. Whether you are Yoruba, Hausa or Igbo, mingle, embrace every role, and bring your very best to it. Let talent and dedication, not tribe, define your craft.
Thank you for the lessons, the films, and the legacy you leave behind, Uncle Olu. The Lion of Lufodo has gone home.
Goodnight, Uncle Olu. Rest in peace. 🕊️

Thank God for such a well organized Tribute night.
