yes i have been there with my Job

Worked full time from 18-65 without a day unemployed. Faced a restructure of my role - I was told I wasn’t doing enough - and realised how little I was appreciated despite doing so much extra work. Now retired for 7 years and love it. We are on 5 acres in the country and I  tell people I would rather sit on the mower for 3 hours and see what I have done than 3 hours in a meeting that achieves nothing. Looking forward to the next big trip in our motorhome. Best wishes and try to count your blessings rather than regrets. I’m getting better at it.

Finally this is camper about Australia...love it..

I’m really glad you opened up about this, because what you’re feeling is completely real and completely understandable. A decade in the same job is a long time — that’s years of carrying stress, responsibility, expectations, and probably putting everyone else first. Feeling worn out or like you “can’t do it anymore” isn’t a failure. It’s a sign you’ve given so much for so long that your mind and body are finally asking for some care and change.
Whatever you choose to do next — take a break, rethink your direction, set boundaries, or even make a big move — you’re not trapped. You’re allowed to outgrow things. You’re allowed to want something different.
And you’re not alone in this. You have a supportive family, friends and all us fellow travellers, and everyone will support you in whatever comes next. You deserve a life that doesn’t drain you. You deserve to feel proud, rested, and hopeful again. 😊

I've just bought a '95 winnebago, hoping she doesn't cause me that many problems!! I've had 3 cancer diagnoses in the last five years and as I've just gone into remission once more I've finally quit my job and am going to hit the road and LiVe 😀

They dont make em like old mate anymore, what a legend, super smart guy, shame to see he doesnt have a young fella learning off him

Great episode mate.  Very deep.  Got Renee and I tearing up at the start and finish with the thoughts and coming home to the girls

This video helped me realise enough is enough.

It’s scary to think of doing what your family has done as a single woman, but that’s now the plan.

Thanks for being so open and genuine about . . . everything.

This is like Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance, Michael Pursig

Thanks, I am a little past 70 and encourage you to step into the unknown it is all a part of our journey. My last job was literally free money working in the power industry and I got up one day went to work and resigned and have travelled Australia ever since. While not fulltime but quite constantly and then coming back to our home to connect with our world where we live. What you are experiencing is only the end of one season and heading into another season. Don't work it out too much but just trust in the bigger picture pushing you through life.

You are a good man I have much admiration for you

Thanks for sharing a very thoughtful video. Congratulations to your daughter. You have done a great job…all of you. Do what you know in your heart is best. Don’t let work destroy you.  I look forward to many more adventures.

"The worlds fastest Indian" one of my favourite movies, yes see the resemblance!

even though we have never met, you spoke some real truths of life. Glad you still keeping camp Winnie alive. Going through similar life experiences and issues with my 10-year-old slide on camper and new ute- teething problems will get sorted and enjoyment will follow. Replacing shocks and other electrical issues. A change in job(work) is not a bad idea - been lucky being self-employed for nearly 40 years taught me several things in my life- glad I followed the path I did. Enjoy life it is too short to waste, enjoy your family and friends  and enjoy a long life with "Winnie". See you on the road someday.

Very interesting, my father told me when I very young when you stop making mistakes is when you stop learning, I am 64 now & still making mistakes, because I don’t want to stop learning

Regards

I have said it before on your channel, but are a GREAT storyteller, sensitive with pics and editing adn totally get the feel, yes the vibe out there. Terrible choice of beer but you cannot have everything. I love what you have achieved with family too.

Great episode, I am much like you, ready to get rid of my job. I want to hit the road. All I do is work to pay the bills. I have been saying this for years I need to make it happen.

What a cast of "extras"!
That bloke on the trike knew what he was doing...😜
Very thought provoking episode mate.
As evident in the comments, you're thoughts are connecting with many people.
Put simply, you're not alone.
Loved every minute of the time we had mate and looking forward to the next opportunity we get to sit down together and share our thoughts over a beverage or two.
Cheers brother!🍻

Great storytelling, I love how the whole story comes together. You’re right though, life is far too short to be consumed by work. There’s always another path, another adventure, something that draws curiosity and keeps the family connected looking forward to the next chapter

Thank you.  I'm afraid, due to health issues, two and a half years ago, we sold our Sprinter Motorhome. We'd been custodians for about seven years, travelled much of Australia in that time and put up with blown tyres on our first trip away.
A new tyre at Gympie, a new tyre after a flat at Yunta, replaced one at Murray Bridge (due to exposed wire), bought another tyre at Gepps Cross (Adelaide), and decided on purchasing another case to have on hand. This was used on the Nullarbor after a steer tyre blew - fun, we put on the spare, drove to the nearest roadhouse (cocklebiddy), and put the casing on then put it straight to work. We made Perth, bought another tyre to replace the last original tyre plus another case (as insurance).
Monkey Mia, the turbo, specifically the DPF caused us to return to Geraldton  where it was sorted, truck serviced, filters changed and electronic diagnosis completed and all was okay. We made it home to Qld via the north-west of WA, through the NT, across to Mt Isa, and Longreach. At Longreach (a lovely town well worth visiting the Outback Pioneers), the rooftop aircon failed. Oh yeah, back at Ti-Tree we almost lost the grey-water tank, so wired it up and had it, and the air-con, fixed at home. I think we did about 35,000km that trip.
I still have the spare casing, I'm saving it to plant a tree in, I think. It still has the paper labels on it, probably covered in cobwebs and dust, to be honest. That was the best bit of insurance we had. The moral of the story - when buying a second hand (anything), motorhome with 180,000km on the clock, it pays to replace all tyres, including the spare. And, check the spare regularly as it was flat(at Yunta), due to the valve stem dislodging somewhere between here and there via there!
Hey, I enjoyed your video. I reckon we've crossed paths with the couple with the fifth-wheeler somewhere. And yes, there was more saga with the mechanics, cabinetry, plumbing (pump), and electrics on the Merc, too much to go into seeing I have taken up your time reading this, if you got this far. Glad your daughter finshed her higher education and I wish you all the very best for your travel in Winnie. Hope to see more of your content in the near future.. All the best and cheers..
