“The hurt gets worse and the heart gets harder” this line has followed me around all my life. One of my favorite tunes of all time.

when Warren was sick and he knew the end was near I have never seen a person handle themselves with more courage and grace than he did. he was a remarkable talent and a remarkable person. R.I.P.

I had the privilege of opening the show for Warren twice when he was on his acoustic tour. The PA system that night was horrible (he even mentioned it in his book). I was at the side of the stage where the acoustic piano was set up, waiting for permission to get my gear set up. Warren was at the piano bitching about how bad the monitor system was and he asked if I was the f****ing piano tuner? I told him I was the opening act and he became very gracious at that point and began to tell of his love for Burt Bacharach’s composition ability and the various intervals he used…and then he began to play them for me. A very wonderful moment for me to spend in the presence of a musician that I revered and admired! I have been a huge fan of Warren Zevon since I was in high school and have turned my five-year-old grandson into a fan as well…he loves Night Time in the Switching Yard. Thank you again Leland for this moment with Warren Zevon today!

Warren was the only performer that could wake me up while I was passed out on the lawn. And anyone that has ever wrote a song knows how great of a writer he was!

Ah yes a Blazing Saddles reference and then a tune by a bad-azz.🙂I watched the other week a Zevon performance from the early 80's. Quite stimulating.

1. such a wonderful song and so great to get to experience it through Mr. Sklar. 2. my kid walked by while I was watching this and said "Is that Dumbledore?" and I said "no, he's better than Dumbledore, that Lee Sklar."
