Handmade leather wallet

In this video I take a tri‑fold wallet template from Makesupply and turn a simple pattern into a fully handmade leather wallet. I’m using 1.5mm veg‑tanned leather, cut and shaped by hand, stitched the traditional way with saddle stitching, and finished with a golden‑brown dye that really brings out the grain.

You’ll see the whole process from start to finish — printing and prepping the template, cutting the panels, marking stitch lines, punching holes, hand stitching, burnishing the edges, and applying the dye and finish. If you’re into leathercraft, DIY projects, or just enjoy watching something transform from a flat piece of hide into a functional everyday carry item, this one’s for you.

I talk through the tools I use, the mistakes I avoid, and a few tips that make working with thinner veg‑tan a lot easier. Whether you’re a beginner looking for your first project or an experienced maker checking out different techniques, this tri‑fold wallet build is a great example of how accessible leatherwork can be.

Thanks for watching — I hope you enjoy.
