A visit to Strathaven during the 2026 Strathaven Balloon Festival. And it's not all hot air.

You can get a direct bus to Strathaven from Glasgow - a 3C - so no chaging buses or trains; just sit back and enjoy the journey. And once you get there, well ... Strathaven's actually quite a nice place. It's clearly an old place with what was once a wide market street, a mill and a castle. And at the end of the day it's always nice wandering around some place you've never visited before.

Add to all that hot air balloons, and you've got a perfect day oot.

What more can I say. Visit Strathaven.

I was quoted £375 for a private balloon flight, last one I did was £250, but I guess that is just inflation for you. 😢😅😂

Its interesting to see Strathaven. I visited it once around 1990. The day after the first night of the Clydebank Blitz, my mothers family managed to get onto a crowded bus to Strathaven, where they stayed for the next six months. Some German bombs had landed uncomfortably close to their house in Glasgow as they were trying to bomb Beardmore steelworks in Parkhead.

Harry Lauder lived at Lauder Ha' (Hall) on the west side of Strathaven in his latter years until he died on 26th February 1950

I love strathaven always pop in if out that way on my motorbike and get a cup of tea, 25 years ago the house struggled to sell now you struggle to afford one

I went on Saturday not knowing what was going on arrived just after 5 to see the balloons in the sky it was amazing couldnt get food anywhere as it was very busy but a beautiful wee place will go back when a bit quieter thought i was going to get a wee history lesson but not to be 😮

Thanks for the video Ed. My old home town in the 80's. If you ever decide to go back you could maybe walk out on the road to Sandford and visit the Spectacle E'e falls. And yes, it's pronounced Straven.
