I’ve seen this in an 8 & under 100 IM, because you’ll see just about everything in an 8 & under 100 IM.

The fact she didn’t realized until she finished the race is crazy

I'd like to formally apologize to every single one of my YouTube subscribers for losing to Arizona State Head Coach Herbie Behm in the 50 freestyle. It won't happen again (it will)

Rumor has it she was only DQ’d for illegal dolphin kicks on the breaststroke leg. 😂

"As the saying goes, 'If you have a lane, you have a chance....unless, in the middle a 200IM at Polish Nationals, somebody steals that lane from you and then touches the touch pad for you, then you just gotta hope that the backup timer knows which one is the right person to finish the time for.'"  Boy, if I had a nickel for every time I've heard that oldie but goodie!  Good times.

This happened once for me at a swim meet. Our A and B relays were in the lane next to each other, and in the 3rd leg of a 4x100 relay, our B swimmer dived and went into my lane off the underwaters. Was so confused the whole 100, we ended up both getting dqued. We would’ve gotten second though which is annoying. It was so funny at the time.

At least no one screamed from the stands 😂😂

Well. I thought I was click-baited yesterday watching the Armstrong video thinking “no f*cking way, wait a damn minute” bc of my poor reading comprehension but it turns out that lane switching mid race happens lol. 😂
At this point I just wish someone would interview the two athletes about what they were thinking at the time.

This is absolutely outrageous and I’m laughing hysterically

I haven't seen that before, even in age group swimming. But when my son was 9, he was swimming the short course 50 fly in the last heat. Next up was the 8 and under 25 free, which started from the other end of the pool. The 8 and unders had been led out onto the bulkhead to await their race. And of course, when my son's heat started the inexperienced kid at the other end heard the tone and went in too. So they are swimming right at each other and the other kid has his head down with no idea of what is happening. Fortunately my son saw the kid coming and moved a bit to the right, avoiding a collision and also not getting DQ'd or even losing a ton of time. I was really proud of him for having the composure to handle that unexpected event.

so we go from swimmers swimming in the wrong lane to having a lane buddy in the 200IM championship final, interesting 🤔

This happened in the 100 M fly at Indiana age group state meet in 1996 or 1997.  I was in high school and I swam in a few heats before and remember wanting to watch this specific heat because it had two really good swimmers side by side.  This was back when there were no limits to how long you could dolphin kick under water.  Sure enough, after the start, one of the swimmers dolphin kicked about 35 meters and must have gotten disoriented and started going under the lane line and into the other swimmers lane.  He popped up ahead of the other swimmer and finished the race, and had no idea he did it until the official came up to him after the race.  I was standing behind the blocks and was amazed at what was happening.  The other swimmer stopped and was like WTF!

I’ve only ever seen this happen once, and it was with me when I was 12 in my first 200m backstroke.
I was so embarrassed and the officials didn’t know what to do 😅

I already thought that this might happen to me someday. I have problems keeping it straight after the crossover turn 😭 but that this happend in a national Championship is crazy. I mean she would've won a national titel hahahah :_Kyle::_Kyle::_Kyle::_Kyle::_Kyle::_Kyle:

Idk polish rules but in America you’re allowed to resubmerge in breastroke so she could push herself under the water and laneline or fix it at the turn. It was fixable. Swimmers do it in practice when we swim snakes

POLAND MENTIONED LET'S GOOOOO

"wow guys unbelievable"

This happened to me over the summer. It happened during my cross over turn, I never got DQd for it. I had it all on video as well, everyone but the officials saw it

Wow unbelievable 😱😂

Love your content Kyle, keep ‘em coming!

Love that you explained the circle and split swim diagram!🤣
