i get a high noise floor during the daytime .... as the businesses close for the night it drops to zero.  electronics today are noisey

I wonder if there's any point in having multiple ones of these, and plugging in other components in the house that will put rubbish down the mains. Eg a microwave oven, TV, SMPSs etc. Maybe the reduction in mains interference would not justify the cost. For me, the gain would be quite limited as the house is on a different phase to the shack, as I have a 3-phase supply.

I'm surprised you did not fix all the components so they can't physically move, especially given you talk about moving it around.

Also the RF connectors will not be waterproof. Really waterproof RF connectors are unfortunately expensive - I paid £40'each for hermetically sealed N connectors when making a fixture to test the permittivity of liquids. They have a gasket, just like the lid of your box. They use a glass dielectric, not PTFE. I think in your case I would have put some silicone sealer around the points where water could get in. It would look rather messy, so you would wang a parent lid.

It's very difficult to get rid of radio noise as it not only comes through wires in the mains.
All you can do is try something and see for yourself.
I put up a long wire antenna outside for shortwave and I got more noise
than using a loop antenna indoors.

I’m not an expert in this field, but I was wondering if it's best practice to choke the ground wire in this filter setup?

Had this playing in the background while working.  Had to stop and rewind to make sure I heard what I thought I heard!  Hilarious.  Obviously the filter didn't work on the flatulence.

I take it that this filter is mostly for lower frequency HF bands. Not being licensed for amateur radio, my usage is 11M citizens band in the US, and GMRS 462/467MHz. Are there similar filters for these bands? My noise floor on 11M is horrible.

I feel like a lot of people are only seeing this as a main filter designed to reduce noise. That's missing half of what the main filter is actually designed to do which is ensuring none of your RF goes into the mains and causes interferences to others. Until a few years back such a filter was actually mandatory in the country I'm licenced. Today, the filter is no longer mandatory but the regulation has shifted to an obligation of results and it's yorur liability  to ensure that transmissions must not inject high-frequency interference back into your home's electrical wiring. It's worth spending some time reading Ian's presentation since it covers that part as well.

In July at a rally there was a guy had one for sale. I paid £25. He had all the expensive Fair-rites and PSU etc inside. A right result finding it. It made no difference but I’ve left it inline and I’m not complaining
