Nice video and review Tom. This is a good reminder that while you do get what you pay for in higher-end cookers, you don’t always need to spend big bucks to make great BBQ!
You are almost the only video out there for this smoker. Please give us a complete start to finish long smoke video!!!! It would be really great to see it before this weekend when i break mine in for the 4th hahaha
Oh man outside of some misaligned holes that needed to get adjusted that looks pretty quality, not a lot of smoke leakage at all. Seems like a great buy for the price.
looks good for the price. Only time will tell if that slide mechanism will keep working well, or will it get gunked up/fatigued and quit working. I'd use it similar as you: with pizza stone or similar as a heat deflector, then maybe I'd put rack just above it with aluminum pan to catch drippings, then another rack just above aluminum pan for the meat. Being able to slide the coals is nice.
For the price you can’t beat. I wish my Oklahoma Joe’s Bronco had a pull out charcoal grate ❤ I think I still prefer my Bronco, because I think it’s a little better made ❤ I if you’re just starting out the Trail Embers would be perfect ❤
I just brought this based on your videos, thank you for being so descriptive. I'm a blind guy grilling and smoking meat, I just had two questions, Can i have a link to the pizza stone you used? Also how much charcoal will it hold fully loaded? For example would i need to reload if i was smoking brisket at 250 or would it last the entire cook? From what i saw you were getting six ish hours. Thank you for producing grate videos!
