Mixing with the poor locals in poverty stricken areas, is a competely different experience from mixing with the rich in high class areas its like day and night. The problem is that most westerns are not rich they're middle-class and Ghana doesn't really have a middle class, there is a poverty spectrum different degrees of povery then the rich.
This was a valuable lesson when it comes to human relations. Just because people share similar melanin count doesn’t translate into solidarity or kindred spirit. Different culture, faith, customs, honor system, language, traditions, ethnicity. It’s best to judge people on a case by case basis, regardless of what they look on the outside.

I've heard this about Africa before. Never had a desire to even visit, not to mention looking for a husband there. Didn't have to experience it to believe it.
This happens in the Caribbean too. Even if you were born there but left young, when you go back all they see is 💷💷💷💷even took a taxi, stopped at a shop to get a drink and the taxi driver was in the shop before me placing his order. His order was so long as well. All types of food and drinks was in this guys hand I was expected to pay and he overcharged me for the trip like 80%

Last yr a friend s & I visited Ghana, fortunately we stayed with a Ghanaian friend who has a home in Accra & the States, we stayed in the her, a very modern home, never an issue with water, electricity, or internet. We were there 10 days & had a wonderful time…
50 years lease if your not a citizen, 99 years for citizens. But it can be renewed. Not 10 years. You can get used if you allow yourself to. It happens anywhere.
When I visited the Caribbean decades ago I had a similar experience but I had met a charismatic guy and was love struck. I even had plans to bring him to the United States. Fortunately for me the plan fell apart, I can't remember why but I was lucky it did. I was in my early twenties then
