As always, thanks for watching everyone! Please support me in my efforts making these videos and give the video a thumbs up, 'hype' if that's an option and comment. Cheers!

The USAF adopting a foreign design in an era where the US had no shortage of aviation companies happy to pump out new designs really speaks to the plane's excellent design. Those recon variants are particularly beautiful planes, and it's so cool that NASA is still using them today. I do like the look of the original fishbowl canopy, especially in the RAAF livery, but I can't imagine trying to crawl through a plane that size. Very thankful for the internet- you Aussies have great taste in planes (and cars)!

It's amazing to see NASA still using an aircraft that was originally designed right after WW2.

My dad regularly flew the Canberra for the RAAF in the early 60's. For Air Shows on Base, small weather balloons were loaded in the bomb bay to be dropped over the crowds. As a young lad, I recall helping to load the balloons. The ground crew knew I was the son of the test pilot, so they used my short height advantage to get underneath the low Canberra.

It was awesome to see NASA's WB-57 pop up on Flightaware for that re-entry and splashdown of Artemis-II!

Local checking in. Thank you for your kind words. It really is appreciated.

Still one of the most beautiful aircraft ever. It just looks right.

As a kid growing up in Dayton Ohio my dad would take us to the annual Wright Patterson Air Force show each summer. One year the tower came on and said he had a Canberra on the radio that was getting ready to leave California and fly to Wright Pat and land during the airshow. Sure enough here it comes. I don’t remember the exact time but I believe it was less than 3 hours.

Amazingly, at least one of them was up checking the weather out for Artemis II!

Your experience with Americans is what most people experience when they come here. The negative opinions on the internet are toxic. Most people (outside of the major cities) here are kind, generous, polite, etc. That museum is wonderful. I was there a few years back. The B-36 is a joy to visit.

From what I gather, several Canberra’s are still in active service with NASA. In fact the Mission Control narrator said that some of those high altitude video’s of Artemis II coming back through the atmosphere was being provided via a Canberra, WB-57. That’s simply amazing unto itself.

Like most young lads in the 60s who built model aircraft the Canberra by Airfix was a regular build. Thanks Paul.....

Another excellent video Paul.
Thank you for the wonderful intro ❤

As a USAF vet, thanks so much for coming to see (and skillfully showcase!) Some US aviation.
Suffice it to say.. the greenhouse effect still works when you're moving fast 😅

In the mid-1970s I worked on EB-57s that were equipped with electronic countermeasures receivers and jammers, as well as chaff dispensers, and used as "intruder" aircraft for testing and training.

@JohnYa-q9j 5 months ago

A fine example of collaboration. US taxpayers got their money’s worth with Martin adapting this brilliant English design. As good as the XB-51 would have been, it is difficult to imagine it evolving into an airborne Swiss Army Knife of capabilities the Canberra/B-57 did.

Well done on this video Paul!

I worked on the EB-57B/C/E model aircraft with the 4677th/17th Defense Systems Evaluation Squadron (DSES) at Malmstrom AFB, Montana from Oct 1973 to Oct 1976. My time with the Squadron was the very best assignment in my 21 years in the USAF, 1971-1992.
In 1975, we went on deployment to Germany, and while there, we ended up being parked next to three British Canberras (MK14 I think) that were also configured for Electric Counter Measure (ECM) warfare. They were painted a deep purple/black. We had a great time with the Brits as we looked over their aircraft and they looked over ours. I even got to load one of their jets with a "Brass" Starter Cart, and he got to load one of our J65 engines with our "Coffee Can" starter carts.
