I won't lie, i kept my eyes focused on the moving heads in the background and patiently waiting for them to hit a corner

The worst retcon is One More Day. It just has to be.

You mean to tell me, that the whole Spider totem thing was because some God saw this nerd and decided. Let me give this nerd superpowers because he can take a punch.

One More Day isn’t just the worst retcon in Spider-Man comics. It’s the worst retcon in comics! No, the worst retcon in fiction!!!

It's funny how Eddie himself has had a pretty consistently well done character growth over his history (at least up until the Ewing run which I'm not super familiar with yet), but meanwhile the Venom symbiote has gone through being:
-Mysterious, sensitive, mute to everyone except host
-Evil, manipulative, talks out loud, psychotic
-Mindless hungry monster
-A former benevolent being who got corrupted and is now cleansed
-Back to being mysterious and sensitive but now talking out loud still

One More Day & Zeb Wells run of Amazing Spider-Man is Cringe.

Glad I’m not the only one who thinks aunt may has overstayed her welcome lol

JMS's first Totem story arc was, imo, solid. From Morlun's first appearance to the fight to the death with Ezekiel, it was good, one of the last truly good story arcs in Spidey's main comics (Peter becoming a teacher and renewing his relationship with MJ was all great). The mystical stuff was left vague enough to still work in Peter's world. It's all the stuff that came after when they went more deep into mumbo jumbo that it fell apart for me.

definitely not the worst but the retcon to the symbiote/black suit logo being retconned into a dragon is rlly dumb cuz as far as i know they never explained why julia carpenter had that logo before both spider-man and venom

I agree characters should stay dead, They brought Aunt May back around the same time, they resurrected Norman Osborn in the 90s, who BTW was dead for 2 whole decades, the Green Goblin died in 1973 due to impaling himself on his own glider, half these Retcons wouldn't have happened if he stayed dead, Hell Ben Reilly wouldn't had died at all if Norman just stayed 6 feet under,

One......more.....day

Retconning superhero origin stories to be magical has always been lame to me. They did the same thing with Flash and Batman.

They actually introduced the whole spider totem concept a few years prior in the book of Ezekiel chapter / arc

I remember when originally the Venom symbiote created a web of itself, the more it created the weaker it became. And the fact that the Venom symbol is actually Knull's dragon symbol is not logical at all.

Also, having venom be this huge monstrous like being when bonded to someone is something that shouldn't have been done. I get for the ultimate comics it makes sense. But for other versions, let him be a built looking character who can swing on webs, Crack jokes, change clothes, be immune to the spider sense, and possibly go invisible. There's no need to make him huge as hell and only let him use the symbiote to attack.

It's funny how the MCU managed to take the story of one more day and actually make up a decent movie out of it

One More Day is SO fucking bad, Huggbees made me feel better

Ben Reilly being Chasm.

But the spider totem is bad though.

goddd YEAH the part about how inconsistent symbiotes are written is so true. like it was a bit messy from the start but the flip-flopping on what they do and are like just makes every arc, every fight feel so arbitrary

Knull is such a stupid character that basically retcons everything involving the symbiotes. Seriously? So the emblem on Venom's chest isn't actually a spider. It just conveniently looks like one?
