His routine is less than six minutes, there isn't a single vulgar word, and he totally owns the stage. He has Don Rickles about to cry, he's laughing so hard, and the others on stage as well. Pure talent, class, and confidence.
Foster Brooks was the only person in this whole series of Dean Martin Roasts who consistently destroyed the dais every time he appeared, especially Dean Martin. Always my favourite roaster. Thanks Mr. Brooks.
You notice how these guys can rib each other, bring wives and significant others into the joke, and everyone knows it's pure humor. No one is taking a swing at anyone or spewing profanities. It'll never be like that again.
Foster Brooks was great....he would do the drunk bit almost at every roast and he always pulled it off without it ever getting old and worn out.....classic old school comedian.
I'm 66 years old, and I remember these. My father had a great sense of humor, so we got to watch the celebrity roasts laugh in all the comedy shows these put us in tears. We would laugh so hard. How could you not? He could do this job like no other. Same thing, what the Carol Burnett saw they had their bits of drama. I put the comedy Tim conway and Harvey trying to bust each other up. Those were the days i'm believe we all wish we could go back to that. When laughter meant something. Nothing but love and respect for this man As I saw somebody's state when you can make Don Rickles laugh, you've got something going, you could tell everybody was in tears over this. They're great memories.Something I hope I will never forget
