The combination of political/cultural controversies and laxed guidelines just made 2015-2017 YouTube so savage, yet soo glorious. Man, I miss those days.

I’ll never forget the Tana one that shit was fucking gold he played her so goddamn hard and she literally couldn’t have taken the bait harder

Wild to me how people consider 2015-2017 youtube as old school and relaxed.

I always felt it was more 2007-2012

I remember when Content Cop felt like an event. Like, as soon as one came out, you had to be on that shit. I kinda miss those days.

But maybe not.

I'm holding onto the fantasy that he's making one more and taking his sweet time with it. Content Cop: YouTube.

I love how idubbbz made fun of leafy banning the words chin and idubbbz on his video, but now on his latest video he has Sam Hyde as a banned word.

What I always loved about idubbbz is that he always knew how to get under someone's skin enough to get a reaction from them that literally proved his point in his video.

I'll always miss this era of Youtube.

Keemstar's entire personality is just "Yeah, I'm a shitty person. What are you gonna do about it?"
The content cop was a blow for sure, but ultimately didn't do much to him. Still going strong despite the fact that almost everyone hates him.

I do understand why Idubbbz retired the series, but YouTube needed (and still does) a YouTuber who is willing to call out others and their bullshit.

i remember the time when i first saw ricegum's content cop it was just like a youtube event to me

This aged well

I still remember getting the notification for the ricegum content cop and watching it with my friends at lunch at school, we all fucking gasped like a movie when he revealed it wasnt actually about jake

keemstar taking the content cop in stride and not trying to fight it was honestly the best thing he could've done

“Only a matter of time before he got into a battle he couldn’t win”
enter: Sam Hyde.

ngl i find it remarkable that Anisa having an OF was MORE controversial than her justifying the holocaust and saying CP isn't that big of a deal lol

Once they started enforcing such strict censorship, I was always surprised at how little content creators tried to fight it. If enough big channels had protested, I don’t think it would be as bad.

Crazy to think about this era, specifically Filthy Frank, MaxMoeFoe, and Idubbz and how they all branched off from their original content together. Frank becoming a top music artist, Max and Anything4views starting an australian drinking show, Idubbz making content cop, then full on documentaries on obscure people, to hosting a YouTuber MMA fight. Truly a batch of legends that were all at one point playing torture twister and eating a cake made from idubbz hair, and all of this history documented on YouTube to go back and watch. Absolutely amazing.

Kinda sad how the best content on Youtube now is just reminiscing on the past of Youtube.

Really goes to show how strict community guidelines gag creativity and fun.
