Tim Bradford and Lucy Chen finally got engaged — and moments later, they were drugged, hooded and kidnapped.
But getting rescued may only be the beginning of their Season 9 story.
In this video, I look at what Heath Everett may actually want from Tim and Lucy, why taking both of them alive could be important, how Lucy's experience since her kidnapping by Caleb could change the way she handles this ordeal, and why Tim's reaction afterward may be just as important as the rescue itself.
We’ll also look at how Angela, Grey, Nolan, Harper and Wesley could become involved in the search — and what this experience could mean for Chenford once Tim and Lucy finally come home.
Could surviving this bring them even closer, or will it bring back some of the old patterns that once pulled them apart?
And after Everett interrupted the first moments of their engagement, will Tim and Lucy finally get the chance to reclaim the future they had just chosen?
This video contains theories and analysis based on the Season 8 finale. Season 9 events discussed here have not yet happened.
What do you think Everett has planned for Tim and Lucy? And how do you think the kidnapping will affect Chenford afterward?

Tim will blame himself no matter what, just like he did with the Caleb situation. What I think he will do differently is that he will communicate and understand that it's not his fault. Tim has grown emotionally, and communicates better. When Lucy verbalizes that she doesn't blame Tim, he will take comfort in that. Especially as Lucy still wants to marry him.
Their commitment to each other will not change. They will be more committed to each other, and the marriage will become more important to them because of this.
How they deal with the trauma in the aftermath is that they will step towards each other versus trying to deal with it apart. A callback to when Lucy killed Martin in Season 8. Tim was there for Lucy in the moments aft, r especially at home, letting her know everything will be okay and giving her the space to process. He also reassured her going back to work that she did what was necessary to survive, and it was Lucy taking a life to survive. Tim will want to take all the responsibility for the kidnapping, but he will also do whatever Lucy needs and asks for them both to get through the trauma. We may see them doing couples therapy, as they both have done individual therapy.
Chenford will strengthen their relationship in the aftermath. Them surviving this will only give them fuel for being together. I want to see the story of the ring be what they use to redefine the engagement. There are so many ways the aftermath of the kidnapping could go. I don't think they risk them being a part after. The fanbase would never forgive Alexi Hawley for that.
My hope is that they will have a wedding with everyone involved, where we get to see Lucy pick a dress, have their bachelorette / bachelor party, and Lucy walking down the aisle. I suspect Alexi Hawley will do an elopement, which would be more Chenford and then a party with everyone after.
As for the rescue, I'm sure Chenford will play a part in it. I still think Tamara & Kojo being the ones who alert they are missing. They're the only 2 important people not involved in the engagement. The whole team will be involved in the rescue, and we will get it as the crossover with The Rookie North.
