Is it possible to turn an ordinary marketplace into hell on earth? It is. This is what the Zieleniak looked like in August 1944.

After the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising, thousands of Ochota residents – women, children, and the elderly – were driven from their homes and confined to the former marketplace, known as the Zieleniak.

This place quickly became a symbol of unimaginable suffering.

Large-scale killings, murders, robberies, and brutal beatings took place there. People died from wounds, hunger, thirst, and exhaustion. Witnesses recall bodies lying next to the living, and corpses that were later removed and burned. For thousands of Warsaw residents, the Zieleniak was the last place they saw.

Today, we return to tell a story that must never be forgotten.

This episode doesn't flaunt cruelty. It is an attempt to give voice to those who can no longer tell their own stories.
