Alesis Nitro Mesh Kit 1960s Custom Kit Programming Tutorial

Get an Alesis Nitro Mesh at https://amzn.to/2CUhWZW or at https://reverb.grsm.io/nitromesh. Go to 21:40 to hear how the kit sounds in action. A while ago I was asked if I could make a Beatles custom kit on the Nitro, but since the Beatles had a lot of different drum sounds, I thought I would try to make a more general sounding 1960s kit. I think this kit could sound good in a large variety of retro music such as Soul, Surf Rock, Psych Rock, and 60s R&B.

Nice work ! my nitro mesh custom kits become better every day because of videos like this

Thanks so much! I was struggling with a 60s Beatles like kit but you did it so fast and good. This will be amazing for my band's 60s inspired songs. I also would never have thought about the mic stuff, but when you told me it was so smart. Thanks again :D

Hey there, great video! Was wondering if u could do a dave grohl/chad channing/nirvana drum sounds? It would be awesome

Great video. As well as showing how to get the sound for that kit you've also just shown great examples of lots of other drum voices. I don't know how you recorded the video but they sound so much better than any other video I've seen on the Nitro Mesh. All others sounded over compressed and muted. Almost put me off buying one. But this video has convinced me, I'm getting me one :-)

I'm a beginner and just bought this kit. Thanks for showing in detail how the programming works. I had no idea there was so much you could change .

Please do a Thrash Metal set up. I'm struggling with the kick drum.... I just can seem to get the right sound... Great job on these set up videos... Keep them coming... The last one was so helpful.

Great video Justin! You really nailed the vintage 60s vibe in that jam. Also that’s a good point about the high cut on the drums. A lot of 60s songs lack that high end crispness in the drums. It gives it that darker and muddier sound. Might just have to take that production choice into my next song

Great video. The end results were pretty damn good. Not sure if it’s my idea of a 60’s or Beatles sounding kit. Again, the end results were indeed good especially with the jam at the end. 👍

For me I would be wanting that Ringo Ludwig kit sound. Something that I would have hoped that would already exist on electronic drum presets, but obviously doesn’t.

Sounded pretty cool Justin. In the song they sounded really good. I thought without the song the hats didn't sound that good but in the song they sounded fine!!

This was hugely helpful. Ive been working on a 60s surf rock project and i cant use my acoustic drums. Thanks for this!!!

Hi Justin thanks for sharing these tips and hacks, my inquiry would be on how i can put the ride cymbal on the rim of the Tom 2, thanking you infinitely.

@rushkiss2012 4 years ago (edited)

Was wondering If there's a way to chart out all the settings on paper , be easier to follow through as well ?

@tea2920 6 years ago

damn I want a new cymbal to use it as a ride and use the second Tom as a second snare

Hi "Demonic Sweaters". Thank you so much for all your eford to show us this alesis nitro kit.

can you shed light on one thing for me? if the cymbal in combination with the module does not have dynamics (one constant volume after various strikes) - will in this case the use of computer sounds (e.g. ezdrummer) will also be limited to a constant volume, despite the multi-sampling sound in a computer application?
