What is it like to live in the Falkland Islands, one of the most remote inhabited places on the planet? In the middle of the South Atlantic, some 3,000 people live surrounded by ocean, wind, vast distances, and seemingly endless nature.
In this 4K documentary, we travel to the Falkland Islands to discover what life is really like for those who inhabit this remote territory: what their towns and villages are like, how they get around, how they make a living, how schools, services, and supplies work, and what it means to grow up and raise a family so far from the rest of the world.
Beyond the image we usually have of the Falklands, there is a small and unique society that has learned to adapt to an isolated and demanding environment. Stanley, the main town, is the center of much of the territory's life, while outside of it, the feeling of isolation is even greater.
We'll also explore the history of the islands, their location in the South Atlantic, the climate, the economy based primarily on fishing and livestock farming, and the extraordinary wildlife that makes this corner of the planet one of the great natural refuges of the far south.
Because visiting the end of the world is one thing.
And living there is quite another.
🌎 Remote Worlds takes you to extraordinary places to discover how people live where almost no one goes.
