Should Nene Royal have won America’s Got Talent?
My answer might surprise you—and I give it within the first minute.

Welcome to my daily creative journal.

Every day I document what I’m learning as I build my voice, my music, and my creative life with the long-term goal of performing in an a cappella group.

This episode examines the larger argument: Should singers be eligible to win a broad talent competition when dedicated singing shows already exist?

I look at the history of broad talent competitions, the number of singers who have won AGT, the difference between “best singer” and “best act,” and the claim that younger voters lack the “better and wider tastes” of adults.

If you disagree, tell me why. If you believe singers should no longer be eligible to win AGT, make the case. And if another finalist should have won, tell me what you saw that I didn’t.

After 175 episodes of asking people to comment, apparently I’ve escalated to providing torches, pitchforks, and transportation.
