There are times when the most important thing we, those called to serve, can do is share in the suffering and pain of others. It's not about trying to advise them. It's not about filling them with verses. Much less about saying the dreaded phrase, "You must have done something wrong." We simply have to "weep with those who weep." Sharing in the tears of another not only benefits the one receiving help, but also the one who serves wholeheartedly. That is the only hallmark that identifies the true church... the capacity to love and serve our neighbor!
