I don't think I was as clear with my method in this video because I explained it in my first video, but just to clarify I see the manga and the Anime as separate works that stand on their own, any decision to add or remove information therefore changes the meaning of the work. Sakura is the personification of 'go girl give us nothing'.

In the Kazekage Rescue arc, Sakura has an inner monologue about how Tsunade taught her that, as a medical nin, Sakura's biggest priority is herself, because she can't heal people if she's dead or incapacitated. So it's a crazy choice to have her taking random hits during fights.

"He's gay, he's bi, she's badly written" - such a simple truth and yet so hilarious.

I just realized How the three of them achieved their dreams and it's miserable. Naruto is the Hokage, but he's unhappy and always tired. Sakura got with Sasuke, but he's never there. Sasuke killed his brother only to learn the truth later

I never noticed that Hinata was so similar to Sasuke, that makes the ending of the series so much funnier.

As a big fan of Naruto its been so refreshing seeing a different perspective and critique on the series. Always feel like people get too caught up on the fights and power level stuff so i love seeing such an in depth look at the characters and themes of the show, especially in a way I would never think of as a cis straight dude. Great series of videos! Cant wait to see more in the future, Naruto related or not!

I honestly think Sakura would have been such an interesting representation of intersectional issues if she was written as a foil to Naruto/Sasuke. Her ignorance earlier in the series could've been more devisive and a driving point of her character growth. Especially when Sakura, the same girl who once criticized Naruto for his lack of respectability, becomes closer to Naruto in the Shippiden series...I really wanted to see this explored more.

Young Sakura wasn't an unrealistic character per say. Given her privileged childhood, she lacked perspective. Her dialogue often reflected the social norms of Konoha. How often do we see children mimic the prejudices of their parents without understanding their true implications? This is something the series addresses early on even. I also don't hate the idea of her being ill equipped as a kunoichi. Imagine being thrust into a world of violence as a child who hasn't faced violence before. Many would be inclined to freeze, to default to self doubt, to feel like an imposter.

But Sakura is so often denied depth in favor of her being a device to Naruto and Sasuke's dynamic IF THAT. She could have been SO dynamic if the writing treated her flaws with nuance as well as idk...didn't fucking debuff her every chance they got. Sakura turning out to be nerfed Tsunade was such a let down when Naruto and Sasuke were both allowed to surpass their mentors.

As a girls girl myself I really can't glimpse over the fact that Sakura is the worst "portrayed to be good" friend I've ever seen, especially when it comes to Ino.

Ino was shocked and left speechless when Sakura ended their friendship over a boy. Her going along with their beef might as well been an act out of spite. Still it was Ino who stepped over her fear and came to her rescue during the exams. It was Ino who offered to fix her hair. It was Ino who found words of encouragement after their fight.

Meanwhile there was no effort from Sakura's side. No apologies, no words of comfort, nothing.

Sakura basically blew up her very first friendship for no reason and the very same friend ended up fixing things for no reason.

I like Hinata (as an introvert I relate to her), but I really don't care much about the Naruto/Hinata pairing. Large part because Naruto goes from not even knowing Hinata exists 90% of the time to marrying her and having two chidlren? He settled because he can't be with his true love. It also doesn't help that he is also almost never home in Boruto (you can try to play the "overworked Japanese salary man, but he's the freaking hokage and an orphan! He should understand the importance of family).

I'd like to add the whole "Naruto believes Hinata is dead and goes berserk" is just a rehash of "Naruto believes Sasuke is dead and goes berserk" back in the Land of Waves arc.

So I’d give her credit because she wants to protect the most vital organ which is his brain from taking a anoxic hit.

Tsunade being a better written Sakura makes even more sense when you consider the Sannin as parallels to Team 7. Orochimaru, like Sasuke, ran away from the Leaf and became a rogue shinobi who threatened the safety of the village. Tsunade eventually gives up on him but Jiraya who had somewhat of a one-sided rivalry never did, and left the village as well to continue his network of always tracking Orochimaru's movements. Sakura felt like the was gonna follow in Tsunade's footsteps and eventually give up on Sasuke too, with Naruto being the one who won't, and I think that would have been so much better for her character. She doesn't need to hate him forever and can even forgive him, but her character really needed to be her own person that didn't end up with him.
Also, I always felt like Ino had more chemisty with Sakura than Sakura ever had with Sasuke. Like you're telling me Ino is a flower girl who befriends and looks after her friend literally named after a flower? And Ino probably just said she liked Sasuke to throw people off her scent since everyone liked him. And there's some databook or something that literally says Sakura would have married Ino if she was a man 😭 At this point Sakura and Sasuke is just a lavender marriage.

In Sakura's defense, a poisoned knife is still a knife that could kill anyone by itself. But Kishimoto seems to hate her

I can't bring myself to hate Sakura cause I just feel pity (and pissed) by how badly her character was fumbled.

And when I was young I Hinata was my favourite, because I too was shy and didn't have much faith in my abilities. I wanted to see her work hard and prove her family wrong by becoming a kickass fighter. It's devastating that she BARELY makes any progress in her character growth through the whole show.

With all that said I think Hinata could also have been really interesting as a character who doesn't want to be a ninja at all, who just wants to grow up and be a housewife in a time of peace. She's been forced into this child soldier life, and she does eventually wind up helping to fight for the life she wants and gets to quit being a ninja in the end. Through Hinata's arc there could have been something really interesting to say about the people in this battle obsessed ninja world who really want to bring an end to the conflict between villages so they don't have to spend their lives fighting and just raise families in peace. Instead they just had her whole personality reduced to admiring Naruto from around the nearest street corner.

But we have to admit her light purple colour scheme is perfect. Cause she gets to be in a lavender marriage!

I've seen people unironically try and defend the Sasuke/Sakura ship and like, my guy/girl, they never have an actual conversation.  They talk, and Sakura talks at him, but they don't CONVERSE.  Like, as pointed out in the video, Sakura doesn't get Sasuke, he's just the most popular option.  She actively makes everything worse because she's not thinking things though, she's just blindly following a crush.
