i feel like nobody actually know 'exactly' what is optimal but it's nice to hear the other side here.  i have a vented crawlspace and clearly i'd like to not spend 10s of thousands to encapsulate it if not totally necessary.

First of all....Terrific video...Love your honesty and advice. Excellent.

Now here's my situation. We live on long island ny, with some pretty humid summers.
I have a crawlspace that is 25' x15' and its 24 inches high.
2 window entries in my basement.
The floor of the crawl is concrete.
The walls are cinder block...3 rows
the crawl has 4 vents.
The crawl has a support wall running the length of it due to the floor bounce in the past.
Its a 2x6 support wall extending the whole 25 feet.
I also have pretty new fiberglass insulation R30 batts in the crawl ceiling.

My new woodfloors above the crawl have started to cup.
I had my wood floor installed back over and he said its due to the high humidity we have been having.
So installed a dehumidifier in that room so far.
But I know i have to do something with this crawlspace also.

The issues are......
Full encapsulation is not going to be affordable for us in our budget.
I just spent money on all that new fiberglass insulation to be installed 2 years ago.
I dont want to remove all that new insualtion I just spent a fortune on.
Is there a middle ground to what I can do?
What other choice or options do I have to lower that humidity down and hopefully these wood floors will be better...?
Thank you

If I have a vented crawl space (only part of my house has a crawl space because it was an extension) and in the winter the room above the crawl space gets cold. I won’t to install rockwool insulation but we get a lot of humidity in the summer. Do you think adding rockwool insulation will lead to mold on the floor joist area in the crawl space ?

Encapsulation is a money scam. Your crawl space needs to be vented. Just insulate rim sills and walls plus vapor barrier you will be fine and save money on heating. Close vents in winter open in summer. No dehumidifiers and other bs.

Crazy how many people say it's required.

Equally crazy how many people say it's unnecessary.

I've heard so many differing "OPINIONS" about this subject I feel like none of what I am hearing is credible or factual.  The only evidence of fact I have been offered was seeing what no encapsulation did to my friends house, but no evidence to how it's unnecessary.  Do you see my problem here?

I have one guy telling me "If you have a poured and formed crawlspace at construction you don't need encapsulation", then another guy shouting "AT ALL TIMES YOU MUST ENCAPSULATE!!!!!" Then another YouTube saying "Don't encapsulate; but here's why it's good practice" (Fuckin'.....WHAT?!?) and now yours of which I have found so much frustration in processing because of all of the conflicting information I am finding and it only gets worse the more I look.  Insanity.

I'm building a cabin home, my first and my only one so I just wanted it done right which seems like a big ask.
