They are called Panthers because all these big cats are part of the Panthera genus, which is part of the Felidae family, so calling them panthers is accurate

@KaashandAce 2 years ago

Nah that cop knew not to mess with that

@Dan-B 2 years ago

The amount of people who still don’t know that there’s no such thing as an animal called a Panther is wild 😆

Basically any member of the panthera genus that are melanistic (a mutation that causes them to have excess melanism and appear black) is black panther. So melanistic big cats like lions, tigers, jaguars, leopards, etc are black panthers. But melanistic cheetahs and such aren't because they're technically not big cats because they're not part of the panthera genus and thus not panthers.

@azekel7687 2 years ago

A black panther is any big cat that has complete or partial Melanism (The over production of melanin which causes them to be completely or partially black), that includes, Jaguars, Leopards, Lions, Tigers and other cats of the Panthera genus. Some could even argue that pitch black house cats are black panthers, but they aren't a part of the same genus as big cats, they are of the Felis Catus genus and Cheetahs are of the Acinonyx genus. So Simba, Casual is correct.

Cheetas are tall toothpicks that look like a cat on drugs.

Leopards have shorter legs and are much bulkier.

Jaguars are basically leopards on steroids. They also have a massive head.

8:56 interestingly enough snow leopards are the least dangerous big cat with zero recorded attacks on humans. Not only are they rather peaceful but they’re also very elusive and despite not being that endangered our paths rarely cross. Just don’t provoke them or go near their babies and you safe

@SimbaThaGod My eyes are shifting from BOTH color-patterns, but the most stable is Blue-Black for me. 😂This makes me regret training my eyes to see both rotations of the Spinning Ballerina silhouette + other optical illusions.

A blue pather would be Isanthic.
That the name of the mutation that remove brown and red coloration, and leaves behind black, gray, and blueish coloration.
