It really worked for me on 2 levels. 1 it feels like the story of a victim within the universe. Like one you would come across a note or recording of. 2 it feels like a first time player of the game. Someone who hasn't figured out the puzzles or who's not the best shot.

My favorite part, as a RE fan, was when he's going across the field and hears the dog bark...but you don't see a dog right away. You just have that silent dread of "oh no, a dog...where is it?!"

There’s a difference between b-movie camp and full blown comedy. Resident Evil has never been a comedy. In fact the series often takes itself maybe even a bit TOO seriously.

I have played all the mainline Re games over the last 30 years. This game was a love letter to the games and unfortunately some fans didn’t get this . The padlock jokes had me lmao

it looks like a reboot of William Birkin story

My opinion is that anyone saying this was a bad Resident Evil movie...is a fake fan. They think Resident Evil HAS to have specific characters in it and is about those characters...when it's not. It's about the virus' and other medical horrors going on.. When they say it's not Resident Evil...what they're saying is "it doesn't have my favorite character in it and that's all I care about"...and has zero reflection on the quality of the movie.

We aren’t that mad. It’s the internet. All my homies who love RE and have played it since the 90s thought it was the best RE movie made thus far. The only place I see ppl complaining is on forums etc. but movie reviews are otherwise glowing. clearly there’s a disconnect

Yes, camp, satire, and B-movie cringe have always belonged in Resident Evil, and I actually appreciate that this tells an original story with a new protagonist. The issue is that subtle nods to the game tropes aren't enough—it ultimately feels more like an Evil Dead film than a Resident Evil project. Swap out Leon and Claire for Jill Valentine, even as a brief alleyway cameo or a background audio cue of Nemesis growling 'STARS,' and you instantly ground it in the lore. Instead, the ending falls flat because the protagonist remains inexplicably ignorant after everything he witnesses, making his eventual bite feel unearned and foolish rather than tragic.

4:35 what choice did he have? He just hit her, no phone reception. He had to get her to a hospital.

That baby from the maternity ward has been burnt into my brain since seeing it. Wonderfully disturbing design/reveal, really wish we got more stuff like that

On the same wave length in this great review

8:54 I think Maxine got out of the car once she hear Bryan ask about a friend being infected. She new it was her way out.

When he was looking out of the top/upper floor looking down at the zombies, I thought It would of been cool to put an Easter egg in there from resident evil 2 by having him see the police station and perhaps see Leon or Claire shooting zombies. But like a brief moment to not take the focus too much away from his story if that makes sense?

It was mid at best for me. It was sold as a horror flick without the comedic aspect. Wasn’t a fan of the loony toons twist towards the middle when they got to the car meet up. I don’t care if people crap on the source material saying it’s this or that. It was all stuff I’ve seen before done better. I just didn’t have fun with this one. No hate to those that did.

if i wanted a Resident Evil story. i play the game.
i enjoyed this movie. i just treat it like a prologue like RE7 with the cam boys.
In honest i think the fans would just preferred if its not named Resident evil and that's about it.

Big mistake Bryan got bitten by the girl in the tunnel and i was thinking why the monsters are after Bryan

Cause this isn’t resident evil not the right setting doesn’t have no iconic monsters. No lore of the actual games. The whole plot was awful itself tbh the antivirus was in a random hospital and not an umbrella lab? They gave it to this medical courier who could die before getting it to them? Instead of a tactical team?  Why he kept the alleged “organ” after crashing after visiting the house that organ would have expired before he got to the hospital. Also watching someone play resident evil for the first time isn’t the actual plot of resident evil.

The lab scene is way too goofy & slapsticky for me. It’s like the scientists all became stupid & incompetent for the sake of the gag.

I love it.

Where was the humor in resident evil 1 game? Explain that
