I was 15 years old when I started grinding for my grand Marshall rank. Back then I was playing the game doing 10 hours a day just pvping in wsg and ab and I hit rank 5-6 and I was messaged by a warrior named zyox and he told me do I want to join his team. I agreed, Little did I know at the time what that meant or why he was inviting  me. Just thought he saw me pvping all the time. Turns out he was the leader of a group who was farming the grand Marshall title. He explained the whole process and how the pvping ranking worked. So they controlled how much they would pvp to make sure everybody would rank up. During that time we had some people who wouldn’t wanna follow the rules of this and we would have to grind 2-4 extra hours just to make sure we beat these people. It was crazy times but I did hit field Marshall I think I was 1-3 weeks away from my grand Marshall rank and the expansion came out and it  stopped me from ranking up. Saddest moment of my wow career lol. I was crushed. All the hours and time and at that age and time I put all my energy into it to fall short just weeks of getting my grand Marshall rank…. 😢

If you made it this far thanks for reading my comment

The VP of Marketing at the company I was working at during WoD literally paid me on the companies dime to grind out Fight, Kill, Salute for him in Ashran.

I doubt you'll read this, But i wanted to mention an extremely obscure and horrific grind from Warlords of Draenor Patch 6.2, The "Saberstalkers" reputation grind, There was a really obscure and small small subzone inside Tanaan jungle called "Fang'rila", And inside Fang'rila was The Saberstalkers, A group of.... hunters? lead by a troll obsessed with absolutely genociding the Saberon, There were no quests, There was no lore, There was simply a vendor and a wide area of Elite level saberon that you would grind in a party, Each kill would get you 10? (My memory is fuzzy on the exact number) reputation and you needed to grind from neutral to exalted... but that wasn't even the WORST part, The worst part was going to the vendor with your like... 300 saberon fangs which was the only drop from the mobs in Fang'rila (And also the only currency the saberstalker quartermaster would accept), And realizing you needed 500 Fangs for a battle pet, *1000* Fangs for one mount, and 5000... yes.. FIVE.. THOUSAND... Fangs to get another mount, And what were those mounts?... Well it's warlords of draenor we're talking about, So they are just Reskinned BOARS.. A green felboar similar to the "modern" felboar look, and a classic TBC hellfire peninsula felboar that was red, The TBC style felboar was the one that cost 5000, So you needed, To essentially grind out 17x the grind it took to get from NEUTRAL TO EXALTED just to buy that one mount, Not even counting the 1000 fang mount OR the battle pet, To this day it is one of the stupidest grinds ever included in WoW, And nobody ever talks about it

Witnessed the tlpd in person once, tried to kill it mid air on my monk and fell to my death, just to see a dwarf hunter come along and kill it, teabag me mount up on it and fly off.

You forgot to mention why the Winterspring mount was so coveted: back in Vanilla, it was the only 100% speed mount that didn't require players to learn journeyman riding, as it could be ridden with only the basic riding skill learned, saving them the 500 gold required.

There is one grind that wasn't included here, that will easily top most of the ones listed *combined*, and that's Exalted with the Wildhammer Clan. Without exaggerating, you need to kill somewhere in the neighbourhood of 440,000 trolls in Hinterlands.

I'll never forget the night I found my time lost protodrake, it was day 5 of farming my route and my guild begged me to drop it and come raid so I begrudgingly did but the moment, the MOMENT raid was over I zipped back for one last hurrah for the day and baddaboom there she was. Love that damn dragon

When people ask me how much time I spent of WoW, I tell them, "I found the Lost time Proto Drake... Twice."

A bit of correction on the Insane Title that would impact the list as a whole. In the earliest iteration of the achievement/title - you actually had to get all the reps at once, meaning you had to be Exalted with all the Goblin Factions and Honored with the Bloodsails at once. This was only possible via a single mob that gave a miniscule amount of rep (without negatively impacting the other reps) and was on a spawn timer that was a few hours long (so technically getting the Insane title in its earliest iteration was easily hundreds if not 1000+ hours of grinding (most of it waiting to kill the aforementioned single mob).

The biggest grind i completed which was fully self inflicted, was to farm a world drop epic in wotlk. I really wanted the super simian sphere so i solo farmed the pit of saron heroic necromancer mobs for about 4 months while raid logging Ulduar into ICC. Got that sucker and my mage mirror images never looked so pretty

I got the winterspring frostsaber on classic re-release, and it was my most awesome acomplishment in all of WoW, i felt so happy. And to be fair, it's not that bad. You get a lot of gold while doing the grind selling runecloth, the potion water thing and also the echos you get. And if you are on a pvp server you get to have fun sometimes distracting you from the grind. I remember I spent so much time there during the pandemic that i would dream that I lived in those furbolgs huts in winterspring lol.

3:48 I don’t play anymore but when I did I had a max level account sitting on one of the spawn points for the Time Lost Protodrake. I had a keyboard macro that spammed a button to target and attack it … took over a year before I got it.

I still have very weirdly positive memories of grinding winter spring rep because I'd get off work at 10pm, get baked and just chill on ventrilo with my buddies while we farmed different stuff

I stopped farming the TLPD about ten years ago. I was flying all around The Storm Peaks looking for it for a couple of hours, and then I hopped on flight path to Dalaran to port somewhere, and the flight path flew me right over the damn thing. I got off as quickly as I could, but when I got to the area, it was gone and I spent another hour looking for it, but to no avail. I was mad for about a month.

Absolutely shocked you didn't include Battlemaster title/achievement. The OG one before it was easier to obtain years ago by removing certain requirements. It was extremely difficult to get.

I remember getting the time lost protodrake during the wotlk days by total accident.  I was just flying through there when it spawned and just killed it.  There were people there who had been grinding for weeks trying to get it and they were so mad when they saw the dead Drake and I told them I wasn't even trying to get it lol

one thing I'm particularly proud of was getting the AB tabard, only because you first needed to be exalted and then win a game where your team had possession of all 5 areas at the same time during the game. I believe that has since changed and now all you need is to be exalted.

I did get to rank 12, got my mount, probably got around 500,000 or so honorably kills and haven't entered a batteground in ages lol

Man, I remember getting that Khan title back in 2014 or so. I was a kid but I was dedicated to the craft. Some of those achievements are just evil. In a single Twin Peaks, capture and return 9 total flags? The perfection ones are always rough. I think Strand of the Ancients was also required back in the day.
But boy, did I have fun.
