James May passed his driving test in 1980. Can he do so again, despite changes to driving rules and the instruments of tyranny built into modern cars?

"Because they're instruments of tyranny and I'm a free man."

I would think 75% of drivers would fail their test if taken again

Important tip...always present the lovely bottle of (James') gin to the Instructor BEFORE testing begins, not after.

He forgot to align all the heating vents before setting off.

"They are instruments of tyrany and I am a free man" - The most based James May quote.

46? Maniac!

You also failed to check your blind spots when you moved off after your emergency stop

Captain Slow fails his driving test for speeding. Outstanding. 😂

Of the trio, James May has aged the most gracefully.

'They are instruments of tyranny, and I'm a free man!' Bravo James! Power to the people! Don't worry James, I failed my second test for excess speed.......I passed on my third attempt.

We've seen Richard, The Stig, and May retake their drivers test, now we just need Clarkson

I was slightly disappointed that James didn’t say ‘buffeting’ whilst doing 46mph, maybe that would be classed as a major.

Give James a break. He reached 407 km/h in a Bugatti. 46 is nothing.

When i took my test i had to read a number plate from 25 yards, my eyesight is terrible, so i just invented some numbers. The examiner had even worse eyesight than me, and could not read the plate either, so he just accepted my answer. During the test, a toddler wandered onto the road and i braked hard. Then he admonished me because quote "I had right of way". I reminded him that a 3 year old probably does not know the highway code. I passed.

This is probably the most nervous James has been in ages.

That stupid triangle sticker on the back window is a sight hazard

Well at least he didn’t fail like what he once said on Top Gear where his driving instructor banged his clipboard on the dashboard saying ‘Watch Out There’s A Child On The Road!’ Whilst James Said There Isn’t 😂

"I noticed but I wasn't going to incriminate myself"
Perfect 😂
