In Today's episode on H2O Mechanic we returned to a job that I diagnosed over the previous weekend. I already knew most of what was needed. Basically a full system upgrade.
New Grundfos SQ Submersible Pump
New 20 Gallon Bladder Tank
New Whole House inline water filter
Pipe, Wire, Electrical, ect.
First we had to pull out the existing Pump. The customer stated that it may be stuck due to a rock falling in the well. Sure enough at 60ft it was very visible on camera! During the pump removal process you will notice how hard it becomes to get the pump out by hand! Alot of luck was involved here, the rest was skill 😉

"That company doesn't exist anymore" is why I started to watch this channel. My well was drilled in 1981. I installed a new pump last year. Information from this channel helped tremendously. I called 4 different companies and none of them are willing to service my area.

I appreciate H2o has the amiability to explain what he's doing to his customers, especially when it is about helping an older person, We have to understand one day we will be there. That's why I watch his YT channel.

Let me say that first I appreciate the respect that you showed the customer. I also respect the fact that you replaced the pump with a soft start grundfos pump and made sure to replace the filter and then helped him with his kitchen faucet. You are truly a class act and honest businessman. As far as a price, with two men working on it, you made minimal money, but covered all of your costs and minimal profit to help the sweet elderly man in cost out of pocket! Thank you

Regardless of what the bill was, I can tell from the way that you interacted with Mr. Hudson that you purposely and knowingly undercharged him.
I wouldn't be that surprised to learn that you even lost a little bit of money on the job.

The few extra minutes spent with him, fixing the faucet, listening to his stories, looking at the family history on that door, it's all familiar to me.

I worked IT for 20 years, serving businesses and a few home users like Mr Hudson.
I always liked the home visits the most, and many times I'd leave with either just enough to cover my costs or in a net loss on my time and materials. Especially when it was someone like him.

It's in you. The camera ain't hiding it!

And you know it just as well as I do, that it will come back to you in multiples. Every single time.

Great job! Suggestion: Instruct the customer to run *only* the cold side of the system until the water clears up. Running the hot side will introduce crud and chlorine into the water heater.

That old wire in the basement is neoprene that was used in the 70's and earlier. I can't believe it still works, the insulation cracks and water will get in and swell up twice as thick. That is what Sta-Rite used to use on their motors. That old pump you removed looked like a Sta-Rite Signature 2000. Good video.
