President Donald Trump will travel to Baltimore County Tuesday to announce a multibillion-dollar public-private investment aimed at expanding America's submarine production capacity, including a massive new shipyard at Sparrows Point expected to create thousands of permanent jobs.

Defense technology company Anduril Industries says it will invest $3.7 billion to build Arsenal-2, a more than two million-square-foot "software-defined shipyard" at Tradepoint Atlantic. The U.S. Navy also awarded Anduril a contract worth up to $2.9 billion, bringing the total announced investment tied to the submarine production expansion to $6.6 billion.
