I moved to Nashville 31 years ago from being a native of the DC area. For at least 15 years or so of my 31 Nashville was easy to navigate. Not anymore.

I have talked to several people from LA that have moved and expressed disappointment that the savings that they thought they would have moving here was not as straight forward as they thought it would be. You hit on one of the big ones is time, they have said they are spending as much time in their car if not longer compared to LA. Some actually regret making the move because they left the weather and outdoor activities LA offers. Housing is another sore point in that Nashville is not the huge savings over LA that it once was. Personally if I lived in LA today and I was considering a move Nashville would not make the list, I live here and it’s a great city I own a house but at today’s prices, The juice is not worth the squeeze in my opinion.

Oh sure - I've lived in Nashville from birth until I went away to college and now back home. The nuveau riche syndrome has resulted in an economic mess. Oh sure - build your gazillion dollar home - just wait until you try to sell it...no buyers! Most of the LA migration has ended except for the used car sales people who are feeding the BS in facebook groups. Nashville will bust because most of the "money" is fake rich and no longer are they the big fish in the little pond! The sooner people leave to return to where they came from the better.

Saturn Parkway in Spring Hill to downtown during weekday mornings is 1 1/2 hours every day now. 2+ hours when there’s an accident on 65 which lately is a daily occurrence. Deep red on the GPS for 25 miles up 65 and it’s making living in Spring Hill damn near unbearable. It’s miserable in the mornings and the commute home is just as bad.
