Two of my greatest concert memories involve UFO.... my very first concert in November 1977, UFO and AC/DC...tickets were $3, specially priced for Thanksgiving holiday.... neither band was widely known in my hometown of Knoxville, TN at the time but AC/DC became Knoxville favorites after that night! UFO had Michael Schenker at the time, and I remember being blown away by him!
My 2nd great UFO memory involved another blonde guitar god...but Schenker wasn't around this time....UFO was opening for Ozzy and The Blizzard of Oz that night...March 18, 1982 in Knoxville, TN, and the blow-away guitarist was Randy Rhoads....his very last concert, as he was killed the very next morning!

The Greatest Rock Band ever! Love the interviews... Pete Way bless his heart, R.I.P.! as well as Paul Raymond and Paul (Tonka) Chapman, R.I.P. Love to Love is the best song ever written, especially the Strangers version... down on a woman with that playing...

As Lemmy (Motorhead) said, some of the good bands didn't make it big because they were not at the right time or the right place at the right moment ....... so it was actually pure bad luck, as it happened with Anvil (the Canadian metal band), they are great powerful trash metal band, but they missed to be in the right place at the right moment to meet the right producer that could take them to fame.

UFO has zero in common with heavy metal, just silly, they were a hard rock band, 1 reason they were never huge, is because they were not pop, they were not metal, not new wave obviously, everybody else was 1 of those . if MS had stayed? who knows? Love to love all UFO, From the start, till the end. Saw them twice, never with Mike, They were so good it was sick, Destroyed Ozzy, Destroyed everybody live. but folks did not go home and buy the records, Tried to meet them outside their bus in 82. They were not interested, I could see them through the tinted glass, Driver came out and said, guys just want to be left alone right now" we said ok, Talked to a girl who said she tried to get Phil's autograph, he said "sorry love, gotta go" like he was Elvis or something, I get the impression they were assholes, did themselves no favors, but for me, it just makes me love them more, Never seen anything like them live, Mechanix was crazy, and strangers is the greatest hard rock album ever, They are a,, PHENOMENON .
