Your illustrations are so lovely. Leaving some white does give the colors life. I love your birds and their beautiful crests. And your message of hope always lifts my spirits in these bleak times when my spirits are low. Thank you.

Hi Lily! Beautiful work, as always! - You mentioned colours that are easy to work with, because they are non staining. I know you love Van Dyke Brown by Schmincke for shadows. I love that colour too, but I had a hard time to soften this colour, because it stains. It works fine, when you layer paints on top, but if you just want to blend out the colour on white paper … I find it hard. - I found a very good alternative: Casselbrown by Schmincke. Which is newly released as part of their historical range. The colour is pretty similar, maybe a bit cooler, definitely less greenish … but it lifts very easily. And it is now my go to shadow-brown. 😂

Hi Lily. I love the combination of your whimsical illustrations and the soft way you place your colors to enhance them.

I also wanted to take a moment to thank you for inspiring me with your swatching videos to make my own wonky circles. I tried a few swatching techniques, and while they gave me information on the paints, they didn't give me a feel for the paints' "character". Enter your circles and I love it. 😊

❤ Absolutely gorgeous illustrations. My last order of Da Vinci paints I picked up all of their umbers and ochers to play with. The main thing that attracted me to them in the first place was their pigment selection and that their Naples yellow doesn't have white in it.
