Are you familiar with the 4% rule?
It's become the Holy Grail for a whole generation seeking "financial freedom."
There's even a magic formula: "Once your stock market capitalization is worth 25 times your annual expenses, you're free."
For example, if you spend €30,000 per year, you would need €750,000 in capital.
With that amount: vacations, cocktails, and the rat race are yours for the taking.
The problem is that this 4% figure comes from a 1994 study, calculated using past data and focusing solely on the American stock market. But when you compare this study to the rest of the world, the length of a real life, taxes, and especially your own brain... well, not much of that promise remains.
Today, we're going to see why this 4% rule is a mirage you absolutely shouldn't cling to if you want to become financially independent.
Because if you take it as a guarantee, it could very well ruin you.
