Yay, love these every year. And always enjoy a juicy difference of opinion. I think I’m kind of a hybrid of the two of you 😂

Louise literally going ‘mmkay’ is sending me

Love how we all have different experiences from reading the same books 📚

I loved the discussion and interaction between the two of you!

I love absolutely everything about this video. I especially love that you each predicted that The Correspondent would be the other’s favorite. Thank you both for this delightful video.

Ooooh. I want Dominion to win, which I loved, but I think Flashlight will, which I didn’t. However I am still shook that A Guardian and a Thief didn’t make the shortlist OMG that ending xx

I love how you both thought so differently. Very fun to hear your opinions.

I’ve been so looking forward to this! It’s a difficult one this year but I’m rooting for The Mercy Step or The Correspondent.

My favourite is Kingfisher. I think the main character was a product of his upbringing and his mother had warped him into the person he was.

Love this so much - it’s so interesting to see how differently people view a novel. And videos like this help to calm down the “if I don’t like a book then you can’t like it” calls. We are all experiencing each novel in our own way with our own stuff. Thank you both for being voices in that

Can’t wait to see what wins and where it ranked in both your lists

Your video together is such an essential part of Women’s prize season, I always enjoy it. I was pleased that the Correspondent won, but I didn’t have a strong opinion this year unlike back in the day with Brotherless Night and Demon Copperhead. Agree it’s a shame that The Benefactors didn’t make the shortlist. Thanks to you both.

This was great fun, and I love that you disagreed on most of the books. It was really illuminating.

Thanx Simon and Louise, brill video! I've only read one, and it was superb (the one you each thought the other would pick).

This is such an entertaining video. Thanks to both of you. It is so interesting how divergent people's opinions of Kingfisher are across booktube channels. Ditto for Heart, the Lover.
If you get a chance to dip into the longlist, please be sure to read The Benefactors, Louise!

Im writing this before I watch you both giving us your thoughts on who might win the women's Fiction Prize 2026. I have read all but two of the shortlist and for me today Kingfisher was my favourite. Looking forward to watching the video now.

I have just finished Flashlight and loved it. I am now reading The invitation Only Zone The true story of North Korea abduction project by Robert Boynton such a fascinating history I knew nothing about

20:21 - between the 2 of you you are making me want to pick up The Correspondent! Hearing about this snatky chatacter and how the story pieces together.

The email printo outs in the wardrobe made me laugh!

And I am loving how different your lists are - roughly think alike on Heart the Lover and The Correspondent, but very different on the others 😆💜📚
