As an x Rover employee and owning various Rover cars the last being a Rover 75 tourer. I to find myself now driving a Volvo V70 D5. And what a wonderful car it is in every way.

My cousin has always sworn by Volvos. He had a T5 estate for a long time.

Another car from that era that I want now. Alot of cars back then now seem to be "peak car" made to last and enough tech but not too much. I've give you a hype thumbs up for this, great video!

Glad you're enjoying your V70 D5. I've got one from 2004 with 203,000 miles on it that's taken me all over Europe in comfort and never let me down. I'm a big fan of the cruise control myself.

I had to have a fair bit of work done on it last year and haven't been able to resolve the turbo boost pressure issue but I can live with it and the car feels like it'll do 300,000 miles without much trouble.

I drove it plenty around Littleborough when I was back living there in 2022 including many visits to Lidl car park!

I think the impact of the demise of the Post Office 'dial-a-disk' service has been underestimated.  In the past, persons desperate to hear a popular tune from a prominent beat combo could simply diall 160.  I do hope that 'Florence and the Machine' CDs have information about where anyone desperate to hear the recording, but may have a Volvo with a broken CD player, can seek help.

This was more or less the last generation of cars worth owning. After that we fully entered the disposable car era...

It was Volvo who invented the 3-point seat belt. Your "Engine Service Required" message is separate from the "Time For Regular Service" message and is most likely related to your turbo boost problem. I had a similar problem on my 2003 XC90 which has the same D5 engine. I had to have my turbo rebuilt, the intercoolar replaced and the vaccum solenoid replaced. Also your timing belt is due for replacement if it hasn't been done recently. The D5 is one of the easiest timing belts to replace.

You’ve absolutely nailed it here. Fabulous cars, yours is one of the most desirable, being a facelift Euro 3 D5. Look after it, it will bring you years and years of happiness.

And yes my dog locked me out of mine. With the engine running. With the car blocking traffic in middle of the road in a town in Spain. A true horror story.

I have one of these, but a 2006 T5 that I use as my daily car and it’s running just over 300 hp. Ownership has not been cheap, I have replaced just about everything suspension wise, a couple electrical bits have required replacement and interior can be a bit rattly but I love it and don’t think I’ll ever sell it

Volvo, Rover, Saab, Jag and Alfa Romeo, all have 'the nod' ♥
it's very heartwarming in a way :)

Great video great car

That annoying feature of the headlights being on despite being off. Equally annoying is that neither front or rear fog lights will work unless you turn the headlights on, that are already on

If you want to use main beam, you need to turn the headlights on. Otherwise, you can only flash them with the switch off.

i have a 2003 volvo v70 manual, a hard car to get in north america. an excellent car, nearly 25 yrs old now. the only complaint is clear coat peel on one side of the car [where fan located, thus extra heat generated, thus paint peel], and the second is the IP cluster unit -- 2003 is distinct from 2004 as it is from 2001. They appear the same, but in 2003 volvo changed IP cluster unit provider, so it is a dud year. it does not work, a blackened hole. to order one from volvo is in the $3k range, so i await patiently at the wrecker for a junked 2003 volvo.

Paul clean that beautiful car..
Especially the inside. Car deserves more than just fuel..

I had an ex police pre facelift Phase 2 V70 T5 and loved it. Sounded fabulous and went like stink. Loved VPower though

Thanks for another entertaining and informative video, made me wish I had a V70 until I remembered I've got one! Well, I say I've got one, but it's sat in one of my customer's garden and has been for 10 years. He was going to scrap it, and I foolishly said "don't, I'll have it". I blame all these restoration and salvage videos on YouTube. Know anyone who'd like a knackered W reg V70 T5? 🙂

Proper PN video

The one question that say it all , would you buy the same next time .
