The parallel between Roger and Ace is underrated. Roger surrendered himself to start a new era, and Ace’s death ended up being the catalyst that pushed Luffy to become strong enough to actually finish what Roger started. Even though Ace disowned the "Gol D." name, he carried his father's reckless spirit until the very end.

22:31 all 4 emperors are aces brothers

Dude Marineford was such a huge crossroads for so many things even now it's wild.

Surprised it didn't come up here, Gaban telling Shanks about Rogers son feeds into the idea that Shanks was intending to give the gumogumo to Ace before Luffy luffied it.

0:14 "Not gonna do the southern accent the entire video..." 💔

I read the chapter but from what Gaban said, they knew Roger had A son, not that Ace was Roger's son. That's a huge difference IMO.

Ace was born two years AFTER Roger died.
It would actually be crazier if they did figure it out by themselves.

Shanks calling Ace his little brother means that buggy was technically right about rayleigh being luffy's uncle

Lmfao! They did adopt a son, SHANKS!

Shanks was on his way to rescue Ace, he just came a few seconds to late

I kinda interpreted the Akainu situation as Ace giving Akainu one brief attack, realizing "oh, that's not gonna work" and then wanting to bail with everyone but seeing Luffy in danger and protecting Luffy. Like, not dying due to petty, "don't insult whitebeard" but more for protecting Luffy.

I also always interpreted no one intervening Because Ace was his own man. He's Roger's son by blood only. Everything he had, he earned through his own merits. Even his death wasn't as Roger's son, it was as Luffy's brother.

Random aside, I wonder if when Ace was born, if he was physically 7 months old, like growth wise, or if Ace was essentially the opposite of premature. Rouge really was a beast.

I like how shanks and buggy was like aces pseudo brothers and they both had their chance to have a banguet and they loved him without really knowing him

Roger didnt want anyone to know he had a kid, that is what i felt the more people who knew the more likely word would get out. He only told Garp because of what kind of guy Garp was knowing he would help Ace. The hat was what they were aware of and waiting for.

I think it's completely reasonable they wouldn't know that Ace is Roger's son. The age is impossible, they didn't know about Rouge, and it's not like Ace is a unique name (it's weirder for Roger's sword than a person). Even if they didn't figure it out, they couldn't really say anything because the Government would've gone all in to kill him (remember their killing spree on just the possibility of his existence). And yeah they probably could've helped at Marineford, but they've all shown they have zero interest in doing anything about anything since they disbanded.

Bro was like 20, just went through hell and people are mad that Ace made an emotional mistake l?

One thing that people don't bring up about Akainu insulting Whitebeard is that at that point, Whitebeard was already likely fatally injured. Blackbeard may have finished him off, but there's no way he would have been just fine after leaving his nurses and medicine behind and all those injuries he received. Hell, Whitebeard probably understood this and sought to rescue Ace anyways, so Akainu insulting him must have stung a LOT to Ace.

5:03  funny how Roger and Rayleigh technically did adopt two kids together 😂 (shanks and buggy). 😂

If Ace had used Roger's family name he'd be so dead so fast, it would be broadcasting to the world that they're related, and everything that would entail. He would be hunted down by the world government. Regardless of his feelings towards his dad using 'Portgas' is the only rational move

No one know BB was rocks son, so we can't assume that ace being roger son is a common knowledge to know by rogers pirate
