Today, we’re in Washington, D.C., touring the vibrant 850-square-foot apartment of content creator Imani Keal.

What started as a blank canvas rental is now a bold, character-rich home—thanks to Imani’s eye for design, love of DIY, and passion for a great thrifted find. From pieces collected on her travels to clever, hands-on transformations, every corner feels intentional and distinctly her own.

To get ahead of the trolls who will comment why she’s spending money on her rental space, this is her full time job and her home is part of how she makes money through brand partnerships, commissions, or business write offs. The average first time homebuyer in 2026 is ~40, so people are renting long term and not just temporarily. At that point, it is your home, so investing in making it comfortable and reflective of you just makes sense to me even more so when you can financially compensate off of it.

I love how she incorporates family heirlooms. It’s giving Black Grand Millennial!

This is what an apartment looks like when you are expressing your personal style. I love it and I would not choose anything she chose. I love her personality and her place is a beautiful reflection of her soul!❤

Her grandfather's cane was a flawless execution of paying homage to those who walked before us and paved the way.

She has phenomenal design savvy. I love the kitchen cabinets with the wallpapered interiors she designed and the reupholstered chair. Very swoon worthy. I appreciate that her well designed home looks lived in like a real home. Adorable 4 legged cohort.❤😊

This lady is simply FABULOUS!💞

Her place is so eclectic. Whoever leases that apartment after her will inherit a gem. She can remove some of the custom build but she can’t take it all.

I gave this video a like because of her personality..

I should have been sleeping for my morning shift but this was so enjoyable to watch.
