Only Yan is able to bring us to such remote corner of China and immerse herself into the culture and way of life. For that Yan, you always have my vote for being the most authentic vlogger on China. A melting pot of culture!
I am a Tai-Ahom from Assam( yes I belong to the great Tai lineage) of Northeast India. Just like Ahom, there are also different Tai ethnicities like the Tai-Khamti, Tai Phake, Tai Khamyang, Tai Turung, Tai Lai- around the northeastern part of India. Dress, cuisine are so similar. I have got chills, seeing the silkworm that we are so fond of. Also the members of the Tibeto-Burman speakers who have similar food habits such as the Nagas, Bodos, Karbis, Meities, Garo and Kokborok. Zhum yao!

Those brown kiwi-looking fruits are called Chiku. When fully ripe, the flesh has a sandy, grainy texture, but very sweet. We haves these in Singapore too 😊

The dai ethics group are closer related to laos people. The reason they can understand thais from Chang Mai region is because the thais around that area speak an Issan dialect which is closely related to laos language. Plus, they used to be part of the old laos kingdom of Lan-xang. The kingdom of one million elephants. Hints the rivers name.

@11:10 This is just so beautiful to me! I studied Chinese for a couple of years on my own. I eventually found my interests were almost 100% in Yunnan province. From there I realized everything I was looking for was mostly in Southeast Asia, but this colored rice was the first thing I saw in a video showcasing Yunnan that pulled me in wanting a closer look. That, and the nature of the region.

What an absolutely beautiful place! So rich in culture, nature, and the annual weather looks very comfortable.

in Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia the fruit is "Kedondong " or 沙梨 (Spondias dulcis)

Love this kind of small provincial market, with very local specialties, Dai tribal attire, and so on. You can almost feel the wet atmosphere through the video! That buddhist temple was majestic too. This is really the transitionnal region to south-east Asia. Thank you for the vid Yan
