In June, we spent five days camping at Bass Haven beside the Breede River in the Western Cape.
It was our first visit, and we were the first campers back after the May floods. There was still a lot of work being done around the property, but camp was open again and we had five winter days ahead of us.
We didn’t arrive with much of a plan. We just wanted to spend some time together outdoors.
We walked when we felt like walking, cooked when we were hungry, watched the weather and followed whatever caught our attention. We let the days unfold as they did, with time to spend together and no need to fill every bit of it.
Getting out there.
Learning as we go.
