Edit: 8:22 Multiple people have tried to explain this action as a press check. I considered that myself, but the slide goes way too far back and you can see a round from the magazine sliding into the chamber. My assumption is that someone thought the visual of quietly pulling the slide back was a cool way to add tension, but didn't think through the implication it made.

A few hours worth of good Splinter Cell content is better than nothing I guess. But maybe it's about time for an ACTUAL NEW GAME UBISOFT!

Ubisoft's treatment of the Splinter Cell franchise is like someone dangling a piece of food in front of a starving person, asking "do you want this?" and then eating it right in front of them.

Honestly, if Michael Ironside can't play Sam anymore, Liev Schreiber is a pretty damn good replacement. He's much better than the guy from Blacklist, that's for sure.

they also used the Blacklist suit for Sam in the flashback of Shetland's death instead of the Chaos Theory suit

It's only the absolute bare minimum but I was surprised to see Pandora Tomorrow resurface on Steam again last week

A nice fun bit for the German audience of Splinter Cell: The voice actor of Sam Fisher from the games, Martin Keßler, who is also the voice of the Clones in Star Wars hehe, returned for that role in the series for the German dub. Twas a very pleseant surprise to me and gave me chills when I saw the trailer and show!

To be fair tho, Grimsdottir's design has never been consistent in this entire series 😂.

Shetland was never Exposed to the world , due to goverment contracts

She was just double checking to make sure a round was chambered. It indicates to me anyway that she is perhaps nervous and definitely itching to fire a round

The gun thing was a press check. Its a way of checking to confirm that a round is chambered and ready to fire. Its completely normal for people to check during down time on the range so it doesn't seem too far fetched to me. The only issue I have (not a big deal) is the animation of the slide seems to go too far back. That will eject the round so you only want to partially pull the slide back so you can see the bullet. But I see the intention. The other thing is that you generally don't want to do that while the firearm is pointed straight up. Depending on the gun, the round could just fall out but I can assume an agent knows their own gun. But in that case, I don't see why she'd feel the need to press check mid mission. Point is, its a real thing.

The main issue for me was the lack of stealth. Every mission descended into Jason Bourne/John Wick action with high body counts. In the game, there was an ethical challenge to try not to kill enemies, but in this they do it by default.

So this is what Cotton Weary got up to after he got out of prison 🤣

Sam Fisher with a man bun is a crime against the Splinter Cell gods.

The original Splinter Cell games storywise, were the typical Tom Clancy format of realistic war fiction. They fit the first three games well, but after Chaos Theory, the series became a soap opera. Even Blacklist tried and failed to recreate the type of story the original three games had.

Just on first appearances, I never would've guessed THAT was Grim. Though since everyone is older, I suppose it doesn't really matter.

I'm pretty sure the bit in the control room was a press check. However who ever animated it wasn't fully behind what a press check actually is. Hell, I didn't even consider it was a chamber until I watched this video. Now having re-watched that scene, I see why you'd think it looks like such because it actually does look like it.

For me when I watched, my mind said press check as that's a solid time one would do it. Right before a showdown. So my headcannon says it's a press check lol

2:20 It’s connected to Displate International!? That does it, I’m throwing out all my licensed metal wall art!!!!

i find the intro of the show pretty funny, Sam made of stone locked in a vault

Gonna be honest, I'm fine with Grim's design considering how inconsistent i find her designs to be going from game to game.

Both SC1 and PT are the most similar with only a 2 year gap from 2004-2006, with a obvious change in CT which is only a year after PT. Conviction would take place in 2011, 4 years after CT, and she looks younger than before. Then 2 years later would be Blacklist. Given the 12 year gap between Blacklist and Deathwatch, it's the longest timegap in-universe that we've had so I'm not surprised a high-stress job would make it harder to keep appearances especially for 12 years.

As for adaptations covering original work or parts of, I've learned that the more interesting stuff to me are usually the changes they make. If I wanted a 1-1 telling or recreation, the games are always there for me to re-experience.

It's fine, but I'd probably get bored of it around episode 3 if it wasn't called Splinter Cell.
I wish it was more about Sam pulling clever tricks to get out of sticky situations (like the whole phone stealing mission in ep 5)
I like Sabertooth as Sam and I think the script gets the character.  "Well, that's me. Always defying expectations" was a very Fisher like line. More than anything in Blacklist tbh.
