“Philosophy and practicality are two words that don’t really go together” is a very interesting philosophy.

What a great way to set this up. That will be my way from now on. Thank you

Watched many ways. This is by far the best

Thanks Bro, the BEST SMB video I have watched so far, so easy to follow along with you, thanks again

Thanks a lot for all the great advice. I just adapted your setup a little bit. I have a second permanent small loop on the other side of the big loop. This one gets poked through the hole of the spool and then I thread the remaining line through this loop in the manner you showed and clip the double ender there. This way there is enough line left to wrap around the double ender. To me this feels a little bit more secure, in case the double ender opens once, the line is still secured and nothing gets lost.
But as downside it's not as easy to get the dsmb going.

Thank you so much for sharing this approach ! Among all the methods presented, this is the most efficient and ready to use technique I have seen.
I will test it in my future dives ! 🤩

Thanks for that setup, makes sense, no more tanglenests

Thank You, for a very comprehensive video. This made a lot of sense.
My new spool had this loop and a swivel. 🤔
As I was watching Your video, I cut the line, and followed Your steps. 👍🏻🙂

Thankyou so much man! Been having a mess with my dsmb and spool after I moved away from a ratcheted reel with a trigger and handle. I wanted less complexity, more utility, less dangling off me but I didn’t like any of the suggestions I got from divers I know. Just set this up on mine, been playing around with it, tying, untying, I love it. Can’t wait to use this, thanks again!

Yeah man, this is EXACTLY the solution I wanted but couldn’t figure out myself. Thanks!!

all the other videos showing how to connect you SMB have all the steps you have to do under water while you are fighting against current, etc. this is so simple and one clip and you are ready to go. thank you!

This is simply genius! I know feel MUCH more comfortable with using my SMB. Thank you for sharing!

i don’t normally comment on videos but this was great! thank you

Thank you for showing this method! Glad you reassure us that the clip end holding the SMG and finger spool won't open if its bumped or pushed around, which if it did open, you'd loose both the SMB and spool. I'm going to try your method for sure. Thanks again.

This is genius, I just set my SMB up this way after watching this video and I'm going to be trying this out when I go diving in a few days. Thank you for this helpful video.
