I thought Coogan's portrayal of him was masterful. Absolutely believable and spine-chilling.

I rolled Steve Coogan a cig once whilst I ordered him a taxi and I’m not one for interacting with the famous cause I think there’s a real sad perspective from both people famous and non famous but he was so humble and really engaging. When people say what actor or musician who you admire you go and have a coffee and chat with I think I actually had it and it was a really nice, great 5 mins

A long time ago I worked in one of the hospitals where Jimmy Saville would do his 'voluntary work'. One day he showed up with his brother who both sat in the porter's room, speaking to no one. News got around quite quickly Jimmy Saville was there. Whenever I moved a patient to wherever they needed to go the patient would say how disappointed they were that it wasn't Saville who was helping them. I look back on that and think that in hindsight those patients were very lucky they never came across him.

I think for anyone around my age, Coogan is an absolute legend, a national treasure imo.

I was never a fan of Coogan until i watched the film  Stan and Ollie, what a great performance

Steve coogan is just utter class. Great actor and impressionist and obviously generational comedian. Need to watch this full episode, enjoyed this small clip. He thinks a lot about what he intends to do and reflects very well on what he has done. Great fella.

I am impressed with Coogan here. I thank him for referring to the people as survivors and not victims.   People who haven’t lived through SA wouldn’t think there is a difference, but there is.

I was a little kid in the 80's and a big Shakin' Stevens fan. I kept begging my mum to write into Jim'll Fix It to ask for meet to meet Mr Stevens (or "Shaky") and she always refused. When I was a bit older I asked her why and she said because Saville is "creepy". This was before the revelations came out. I think a lot of people probably intuited something wasn't quite right about him, but the celebrity status dazzles people into overlooking the oddness some celebrities have.

Great interview. Steve Coogan's portrayal of Jimmy Saville was breathtakingly good.

Fair play to Steve for taking on that role. It must hang around in your head for months afterwards. I'd be too scared to live with the demon on my shoulder. He did a fine job.

A part played so well that I don't even associate steve Coogan  with it. When watching that program, it's as if you're watching Saville himself.

I like that Steve calls them "survivors."

Those poor people have had to live (and die) with the shame, abuse, depression, self-hatred caused by that monster Savile. The man may be dead but his miserable legacy endures.

Steve's performance as Savile was stunning and often chilling. A grim tale for sure and I feel that only Steve could have pulled it off so brilliantly. It's a credit to all involved that it came out so well. Thanks for bringing this necessary interview to us Louis.

@SteveCoogan is the only man we love and treasure enough to have performed this role and still love him afterwards. He did a fantastic job.

I think it’s excellent how Steve Coogan picked up on Saville’s North Leeds accent….it’s testament to his talent and the fact he’s spent a long time studying his voice and mannerisms. The  Leeds accent is very different depending on North, South, East and West of the city.

Steve was BRILLIANT in The Reckoning...no doubt about it.

Coogan deserves many plaudits and awards for his portrayal of JS , especially the bafta  , but his mums comment was spot on ...Such a brave part to take on  , but then to smash it like he did   👏👏👏👏👏👏  much kudos

People knew and the BBC knew about Saville. In a 1978 BBC interview with Johnny Rotten (John Lydon) of Sex Pistols, John said Jimmy Saville was on his 'kill list.' When asked why, Johnny said it's cause he is up to weird things. He was banned from BC radio after that interview. On a recent Piers Mogan interview, John said all the kids back then, knew Saville was a bad guy.

If there was a biopic of christopher Lee.  Coogan will nail it

Coogan is a unique talent; his Saville performance was out of this world.
