Behind The Recording of 'Be Here Now'- Oasis

Mixing Mastering Online

In this video, we explore the recording of Oasis’ third studio album: from the huge expectations following (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? to the sessions at Abbey Road, Ridge Farm, and AIR Studios. We look at Noel Gallagher’s increasingly elaborate production, Owen Morris’ role behind the desk, the famously dense layers of guitars, the influence of the era’s excesses, and how songs such as “D’You Know What I Mean?”, “Stand by Me,” “Don’t Go Away,” and “All Around the World” took shape.

The amount of blow used during this recording must have been unreal.

This was great. I remember going out and buying it the day it was released here in the U.S. O got back home and me and one my brothers were listening to it. We wondered if Stand By Me the 4th track on the album, would be as good or almost as good as Don't look Back In Anger since that was the 4th track on the previous album. When we got to Stand By Me we were blown away by how good the song was. Be Here Now is still in my top 3 Oasis albums.

I bought it on the morning of release, cd from Woolworths, fun times. They should release a stripped back version like ‘Let It Be Naked.

I never understood the hate for this record, sure it's not Morning Glory, but man this record is great imho. I throw it on the old record player every couple weeks or so, it's always in my listening rotation. My Big Mouth is still one of my favorite Oasis tunes of all time.
Great video brother

The Fame, Flashbax, Going Nowhere, The Fever and a couple of others should've been on the album.

A lot of people blamed this album. For me it was perfect. I truly like this album.

The only problem with this album is that some of the songs are more than 7 minutes long. Production wise is insane, and it's their best album overall. If those songs were shorter, it would have been another story...

Para mí es una excelente álbum

The final mix and master was super dense and compressed, as usual for Oasis.

That approach worked for the relatively simple arrangements of the first album. But when applied to Be Here Now, with it's millions of guitar tracks and string sections and what have you, it could sound painful
