My goodness,  I remember this plays when it was first broadcast. I never knew what it was called and always wanted to see it again.  What pleasure to stumble upon it today.

Despite having been a self-appointed advocate for the elderly, Kate finds her own inevitable slide into geriatric insufficiency lonely and humiliating.

Wonderful piece of drama

Nobody .....absolutely nobody......does drama like the British. What a lovely little film !!!! ... made with love and passion.

Thank you for uploading this. Rachel Kempson was married to Sir Michael Redgrave until his death in 1985, she died in 2003.

Superb production. Rachel Kempson's performance was monumental. Made when there was still quality programming on TV.

Thank you for uploading this lovely play.

fabulous.

Goodness! That was quite a story! Very emotional. We all dread getting to this point in life, you certainly wouldn't have so many kind people now! No such thing as home helps any more, and no housing officer would be calling around personally and making you food and drink and collecting your pension!! When we're young we don't realise how easy it is to shut doors and find that others don't open! By the time we realise it's often too late! 10/10!

The hero of the hour was the housing man (housing advisor for the elderly! ) . He knew what she needed made sure she got it. Difficult to know where to draw the line.

So well done, I can watch these "plays" forever

this was a treasure...thank you from Texas!

This was so moving thank you 😊

Thank you kindly for posting this poignant story. Excellently presented, from the bygone era when the viewing public had intelligence and artistic appreciation.

What a sad, angry young woman who grew into a sad, angry old woman. The extent of her personal involvement was satisfied by her somewhat aggressive determination to help. Until she needed help. Then she became determinedly independent, fiercely rebuffing all who offered the one thing she really desired.

Powerful stuff

Enjoyed this.

That was terribly sad.

Kept trying to think who she reminded me of. Googled . She was Vanessa Regrave's mother. Of course.  Two fine actresses. Also whoever played  the young Kate. Thanks for posting.

I strongly recomend this play ... some reflections - blocking, coping mechanisms, memories, and acceptance!. It brought tears to my eyes!
