Barbara Chandler, Chris Chan's Mother | Lolcow Library

Rogue, Internet Man

In the lengthy tale of Chris Chan, there are many people who had some sort of influence on Chris. While some people were undeniably negative forces in Chris' life, such as the case for of his trolls and his supposed internet "friends", his parents on the other hand are a touch more shrouded in mystery. We know only what has been shared through Chris' own accounts, and testimonies of public appearances or events. That being said, the influence of Chris' mother ultimately shaped him as a person, for better or worse. Today's video will be centered around Barbara, her influence on Chris, her interactions with the many people in her life, and the repercussions of how her child's story has played out.

Fair warning, this vid does briefly cover some disturbing stuff related to inappropriate interactions between family members. If you've got a weak stomach or a fragile sense of morality, you may want to tread lightly into the video.

Bro I hope you know Virginia has some of the nicest stuff in the country. It's just a big state, my parents used to live in the country there, more of what you are describing. Charlottesville isn't that, it's home to one of the best public universities in the country. Parts of the state are vastly more educated and wealthy than the rest of the country too. Just wanted to mention this because it was a gag you kept saying that didn't make sense. That gag would be for like Alabama, Mississippi, etc. I just wanted to add that because it comes of as a little weird in the video, which I'm sure people who haven't been there will gloss over it, but as someone who has been there a lot, I think you were stretching lol. You could just mention an area or a city, but throwing the rest of them in with it is like going to the desert in Cali and saying everyone is a desert drifter.

Barb: “I never raise a daughter.”
When did you ever raise anyone in your life, Barb?

Chris calling Barbara "Barbie" will never not be gross (Especially when he calls her "Barbie-Chan")

As much as I despise Barbara, she absolutely did not deserve what Chris did to her. You cannot justify rape under any circumstances.

Edit: The amount of people in the comments saying she did deserve it is sickening. All of you who have said that or believe it fucking disgust me.

It’s often said that, if Chris’ life was a novel, it would get criticized for its obvious foreshadowing.

"According to the Man in the Pickle Suit," is my favorite line so far.

On one side, she's a major contributor for Chris' downfall into insanity. She never protected her son or guided him correctly to adjust to society. She deserves all the hate and scorn that goes her way, she turned her son into this delusional monster that became dangerous to her and to Chris himself.
But on the other side, as much as you want to hate her, what Chris did to her was not deserved. As much as Barb is a terrible person, as much of the monster Chris has become is because of her. Barb is a human and being taken advantage of like that by her own son will never be justified no matter what terrible things she did.

An angry phone-breaking australian manchild thaught me that.

Barb ruined Chris emotionally and Chris ruined Barb sexually. It's sick, yet ironic at the same time.

If I had a nickel for every time a professional magician showed up in Christory, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

It's worth noting that Barb occasionally seeming more lucid in some videos isn't really evidence that she doesn't have dementia. Dementia patients tend to be more lucid at some points of the day than others, especially earlier on in the progression.

I feel like she is guilty of emotional incest to the max. Doing that to someone like Chris makes it all the more believable.

I used to work in the office of a nursing home, and barbs story reminds me of something one of the nurses told me about people who's families never visit/have very little to do with them. That there's a reason no one visits them. I don't think that Barb deserved what happened, but i think she definitely engineered it.

There's something really depressing about slowly becoming more and more senile, but you only have a person with a mental capacity of a child to take care of you. Completely stuck in that position. She was basically forced to wait until something bad happened. Then, other people can come in and fix that mess. Barb was a bad mother, there's no doubt about that, but it's a depressing thought to be completely stuck in an unpleasant situation, while your caregiver slowly loses his mind.
