If you are noticing audio sync issues, it is because of YouTube’s new “feature” called Stable Volume. It’s automatically turned on and can desync a lot of videos.
Turn it off in the settings of this video to fix the problem :)

You definitely need to watch Terry Gilliam's "Brazil".

"some woman named Madeline" pained me. 😕 1990's Madeline Stowe...top tier...♥

No one ever notices, but the guy preaching in the street is exactly the same guy that she shows in the slideshow preaching at Stonehenge

This is one of my favorite top 5 movies. The lady scientist at the very end is proof that Cole succeed in his mission. Earlier in the movie, he says he has to collect evidence, find the source, and then they'll send a scientist back to do the rest. Cole's mission wasn't to stop the pandemic, it was just to collect info. The voicemail he leaves at the airport lets the scientists know what they needed. So they sent a scientist back to do the rest (to get a pure version of the virus so they can make a vaccine). Also, another fun fact: this movie is based on a 1962 28-min French movie called La Jetée, same plot. Great reaction as always, friends!

I believe it's implied at the end that the scientist on the plane is actually from the future and she's there because they finally were able to figure out how to pinpoint where to get the pure sample of the virus.  But I don't think she is going to prevent the future.  But at least Cole was able to help save the future.

Still no paradoxes.

Brazil, Time Bandits and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen are great Gilliam films

Love seeing people discover Terry Gilliam's absolutely insane filmography (outside of Python).

Everybody misses the solution at the end .....the lady on the plane introduces herself as "Sally, I'm in insurance. "

"The difference between a Research Wall and a Crazy Wall is how organized it is." 🤣

The bit that always gets me is when Kathryn Railly, holding James as he dies, looks around to find young James and give him the look that he will remember in his dreams for the rest of his life. In that moment, she realized instinctively what she needed to do.

Great reaction. 🙂

It's not just a time travel movie. It's the perfect time travel movie. No paradoxes nothing changes. He always went back in time. He never stopped the virus. He always watched himself die.

Just add a note to George's comment about the woman scientists age. She came back from the future to be on that plane and make contact with the guy with the virus (David Morse, don't know his name in the movie by heart). James identified everything and everyone that had to do with the original spread, so now the scientists of the future know where to look for the original virus to create an antidote. Before Cole they knew next to nothing about it.

1. The idea here is that you can't change the past, not really. He was only sent to collect information to help the future, nothing more. Also there was no paradox - it all happened already, they just needed to sent someone to see it.
2. The scientist on the plane was sent to the past as "insurance", because Cole was able to collect enough information and make the second phone call, pointing to the actual perpetrator.

This is more of a time-loop than a paradox.

There is no paradox. As they tell you in the film, they can't change the past. They went back to try and find a sample so that they can develop a cure / innoculation in the future.

Simone: "Oh, I can't do the spider in the hand."
All of us: "Ohhhh, this is gonna be fun in a moment!"

🤣

The movie they are watching is "Vertigo" by Alfred Hitchcock.

It's a completely different plot but it also features a woman who believes she is losing her mind.
Cool little reference!.

It's a Terry Gillian movie, you know the production design is going to be insane.

One of the greatest movies of all time, and it's a sleeper film. It's like . . . one day you discover it and it changes you forever as a film enjoyer. It really feels as you have witnessed some type of masterpiece that very few people have even seen.

There's no paradoxes, and no potential futures. There's just what is. What happened happened and it can't be changed. It's the same philosophy of time that we see in Arrival, Interstellar, etc. I love it.
