The story of Monolithsoft really is a feel-good success story. It started off as some weirdos Squaresoft kinda shafted by releasing Xenogears before they finished it. Then they formed a studio under Namco, who also shafted them with Xenosaga. They were bought by Nintendo and almost had a threepeat. Reggie originally didn't want to release Xenoblade in North American and needed a massive fan petition to change his mind. But now, Monolithsoft is one of Nintendo's most important studios. Xenoblade is doing great and their support was pivotal to BotW. I think they will continue to get even bigger and better.

Sadly the very first fact is wrong, that is not a Telethia, it is a Moramora or a Laia. Still a cool fact, but it's not foreshadowing per se.

Who wouldn't struggle making a gigantic massive world masterpiece JRPG with 100+ hours of content and AAA production on the Nintendo Wii? It's insane they even manage to do it.
Xenoblade 3 on Switch is equally as impressive, I can't believe my eyes when playing it honestly.

It's quite a feat to release this game on a 3DS, but that's how I started becoming a fan of the series!

To see how far Xenoblade has become. From barely leaving Japan, and being Gamestop exclusive in the west. To getting a spin off, two sequels, stand alone dlc to sequel, remaster of the first game with addittional story content, and two reps in Super Smash bros series

The story of Monolith Soft is a pretty interesting one. They started as an internal team working for Squaresoft, at which they made the PS1 classic Xenogears (I desperately want to see a remake/reimaging of Xenogears which expands the exposition heavy second half of that game into a proper, more balanced and fleshed-out whole, but I doubt Square-Enix would license Monolith and Nintendo to let them do that).
Monolith's founding members left Square after the release of Xenogears and founded the company proper.
Through the PS2 era, they made the three Xenosaga games, which originally were intended to be a six game long mega-epic, but like Xenogears suffered from budget and time constraints thanks to constantly jumping publishers so that they had to be cut down to three games across three Episodes.
It was after their finishing of Xenosaga Episode 3 that Nintendo offered to publish their next game, and gave them the time and budget to make the first Xenoblade for the Nintendo Wii. The rest has been history.

Xenoblade 1 became one of my favorite games ever, so I'm very grateful for all the effort that went into creating this game and I'm glad the series is now very successful and loved by many

I recently looked into the development cycle for this game and it sure sounded like they were struggling coming off of Xenosaga. Glad to see this made in a video format.

When Metal Face's name was changed, all the other Faced Mechon were also changed to have names based on materials. There is no "Brown Face" or "Green Face" in English, they are referred to as Bronze Face and Jade Face.

There's a few cases of wrong information like that in the video, of the kind suggesting that the info wasn't properly checked by someone who knows the game well. Those aren't Telethia in the intro for example, they are Laias, a different brand of ancient flying creature which are also under Zanza's control. They fight the Mechon at Prison Island during the big event halfway through the game.

When you mentioned Metal Face's Japanese name, you didn't mention that the name of the landmark of his wreckage after his death was NOT changed and is still called Black Wreckage, even in Definitive Edition.

This has become my favorite RPG series. Anything this company makes I buy it day 1 sight unseen. Most video games I get bored after an hour this is one series where many hours fly by like I'm a kid and gaming is new again

I like how the first enemy they zoomed in on first thing was a Laia type enemy, while saying it's a Telethia. More specifically, the Lophos Moramora, the ones that you find at Valak Mountain. Granted there are some that fly over said certain important location we go to, which I guess you can say it could be a foreshadow due to that in of itself.

i remember when i first tried xenoblade.

i was getting roms for dolphin and saw the xenoblade rom. smash 3ds and wii u had been out for a long while and i remembered old game reviewers i used to watch talking about the game. so i figured, why not, lets try this rpg i know little about.

i proceeded to play the game for 6 hours strait, go to bed, then play it another 12 hours. It was by far one of the greatest games i had ever played and i loved everything it offered me. im now a huge fan of the series, owning every single game. I love xenoblade chronicles

it's still astounding to think that this was a wii game. y'know, the console that was essentially two gamecubes taped together. and then to think they were able to make it work on the new 3ds? insane. these devs must be masters of file compression
