I'm so glad that I stumbled onto these podcasts about Bob C. I first met Bob when we were 12 years old. (1965) I never get to see old freinds as they are today. I live in the Bahamas when I'm not doing some sort of playing/ touring in the US or abroad. I'm so glad he bounced back with the help of so many wonderful people. The guy is agenius; he handbuilt his own Leslie speaker cab at the age of 16. All the best to him!!!

I felt pretty bad for Bob after the fires. Glad to see he's up and running on another SSL. Hope he enjoys it as much as the previous.
Also, that cat is super cute. I wonder if Bob ever writes fader moves for her to chase.

You could see that Walter was keen to add his endorsement as studio cat! He clearly takes his role seriously!

As an implementor of software audio ways of doing things, being doing that for 20y+ now, I can clearly say that I know what "I have a system" actually means...it's all about details, not going straight to "let's abstract this", and staying close to the needs and workflows as they're presented to you. Whatever you're involved with, mixing, algorithm tuning/product development, recipe making: the person using the stuff and producing the result is the one you need to listen to. Best decision of mine: when I chose to listen and understand these guys more than my own convictions and ideas. They need you, you need them. It's a quite virtuous loop when you know how to implement it.

The SSL Studio Computer was an off the shelf industrial computer made by Research Machines in the UK. At the time the SSL first came out, PCs were just coming around. Colin Sanders wanted a beefy computer… not some toy. Unfortunately, it was only a few years later when a PC would have been a much better choice in some ways, but by then the Research Machines unit was baked into the console architecture.

The CLA TLA brothers really helped save the best mixing group of engineers this way. Once they go, music is over. Thanks Alge bro's!!

Clearmountain is one of my idols. Incredible talent and such a wonderful guy. Kudos to Tom, Chris, and Phil and everyone else who helped him. Kudos also to Mitch Gallagher for always doing the best interviews: Knowledgeable, leads the interview with great questions and segues, yet he knows to let the subject speak and gives them the floor and the respect. Some of these have become "reaction videos" with the interviewer just yukking it up like an idiot, so THANK YOU, Mitch!
