An easy, scenic coastal ride right by the Adriatic Sea! In this video, we cycle south from Ortona harbour along the Via Verde della Costa dei Trabocchi, a highlight of Abruzzo’s stunning coastline.
This beautiful section of the Bike to Coast route (part of the much larger Ciclovia Adriatica project) follows the coastline with breathtaking views of trabocchi, the iconic wooden stilt fishing huts. turquoise waters, cliffs, and beaches. The complete Via Verde from Ortona to San Salvo is currently not finished. Our ride takes us as far as Marina di San Vito.
This new infrastructure has generated a whole new wave of cycling tourism in this part of Abruzzo, drawing families, e-bikers, and visitors who enjoy the safe, car-free route with its mix of nature, history, and sea air.
