Zsa Zsa Gabor’s Nine Marriages Hid More Tragedy Than Hollywood Ever Showed

Zsa Zsa Gabor married nine husbands — though even that famous number turns out to be wrong, and this is the story of why. They included a hotel empire founder, a missile engineer who helped design the Barbie doll, and the one man who stayed married to her for thirty years, all the way to her death. Only one of them was the man she never stopped calling the love of her life.

She built an entire identity out of being photographed, laughed at, and never fully explained — surviving two world wars, a courtroom scandal that made her famous to people who had never seen her films, and a decline the public rarely saw. Decades after her second husband, George Sanders, was gone, she still had not gotten over him — even after he briefly married her own sister.

Which of the nine men do you think actually knew who she really was? Tell us below — and subscribe, so the next story finds you.
