THIS Is How You Catch Bigger Fish On The Canal! It's So Simple!

As the title suggests this session we're down on the local canal. Getting back to my roots I fished in the same area i used to fish as a teenager and using the same simple methods. Fishing the waggler is probably where most people start out in the UK, but its not just a "small fish" method on the canal. You can catch some really big fish too!

I felt the need to tell you that for the past 1.5 years I have not been doing well at all mentally or physically. But my health is drastically improving now and you've inspired me to go outside as much as possible and get serious with my fishing again. I just wanted to say thank you for inspiring people of all ages to be outside and experience nature. The past few weeks I've been catching perch, roach, bleak and pike all in the same lake and I am now gonna target the bream there.
UPDATE: 19.06.26:
Today i managed to catch my first ever bream. I didn't think I'd catch one so I didn't bring measuring tools or a scale. But with help from others, I've estimated that it was about 2kg. Been trying to catch one many times but never succeeded. I caught it using a carolina rig, 5g sinker, 12# hook and a small worm. I used a store bought groundbait mix with some sweet corn mixed in. After 3 hours it took the bait and I was ecstatic. My first ever bream and I was blessed with such a nice specimen. It swam off happily after a little photo shoot.

When I was in my teens, dad and I had all kinds of lures and fly's. Tip if fishing for trout, start fly fishing right after a shower, the trout will be hitting the top water for drowned insects. Any way one day dad and I were using everything we had and nothing was biting. So we headed back to where my mom and younger sister and brother were, and mom had 6 nice trout on her stringer all caught on worms and corn!

Many years ago I used to fish the K&A canal in Wiltshire and bread was a fantastic bait when it was raining. Another thing I did was let maggots turn to casters then mix some into groundbait, tench went crazy for casters.

You seem like such a genuinely kind and great person. I don't even know if I'll ever do much float fishing but this was such a calm, positive video. Loved it!

I started fishing at 9 years old, stick float at Drayton Manor Park, I had a netfull! Hooked for life. That was in 1964. Still love just a simple rig of a stick float fishing 20 - 30 cm above the bottom. Rarely blanked in all those years.

Always take bait you can eat in a pinch.. bread was a staple for staying out fishing when the street lights have come on..

Good to see someone using light tackle....maybe everyone should do a light tackle session from time to time like you did here......

I love your site and it inspires me to get out and fish (and buy new tackle?🤫). If I could just pass on one tip that you started me doing>. When you put Tungsten putty on your hooks/lures, put the smallest float stop on the line, then tie the micro lure, and pull the float stop down to the hook. The stop makes a better place to put your tiny bit of putty, an d it stays on better.🤗
