I work in corporate as well and didnt have any issues wearing my new locks even in the “ugly” stage. I got no comments at all other than “love your new look”.

After researching microlocs for about 6 months I pulled the plug and got microloc extensions on 11/30/24 I used QVR hair as well. I found a loctician that was having a holiday special for $500 so I jumped on it!! I am in love with them!! I have had 3 slip so far but that’s because of the texture of my own hair and it’s ok! This is the best decision I’ve made I love the spray with water and get up and go aspect of it all!! I totaled up the cost difference and I will definitely save over $2k/yr! Thanks for all the info!!

New subbing. It's been about 7 months since this video. Please do a microlocs extensions update now that it's October 2025.

I also realized that the installation technique made a big difference. What’s worked best for me is braiding my natural hair first, then feeding the QVR hair through the braided root. Since doing it this way, I haven’t experienced any slipping. The only downside for me is that my hair grows really fast, especially at the crown, so even though it’s only been a month, I already had my first retie last Saturday.

I love the transparency!
I got mine done 3 weeks ago, and extensions definitely has it's challenges but I am loving my journey so far.

Thank you love your hair and I agree the workplace and our hair❤❤❤❤❤

Excellent commentary!
I agree with your pros and cons.
My 1st loc journey was with 1/2”, small locs, 150 count.
My 2nd loc journey was with 1/8” self installed instant locs including extensions 300 count.  My loc’s grew extremely fast down to my knees!  I cut them to my waist monthly but the 8hr self retightenings  were just too much!  I cut them out, relaxed my hair and enjoyed my freedom from the monthly routine.
Now I’m tired of the constant daily maintenance of loose straight hair that just like my fast growing natural hair is susceptible to the weather conditions here in horrendously hot humid Texas!
I’ve decided to lock my hair for the 3rd time.
On this journey I’m going to self-install 500 extra small shoulder blade length interlocked extensions from the roots of my new growth and keep them trimmed at my shoulder blades.  This length I can comfortably self-maintain or pay to have the service preformed monthly as needed.
(I can instant lock the ends to prevent unraveling.)
The extension hair that you described sounds like a good match for my natural hair texture!
Loc’s are not maintenance free  and totally worth the time savings!🎉

I agree with you. Thank you for being honest!

Yes, I agree—I’m still new to the journey, but because I have 4A hair, I’ve had to get several of the locs redone. The main difference I’ve noticed with the QVR hair is that it doesn’t retain moisture well, which can leave your natural hair feeling dry. I find myself doing a lot of hydration treatments. That said, I truly love my locs! For me, I think I’ll gradually trim them down over time, but I don’t plan to remove them—I love the fullness and versatility they bring. My hair was done on a grid, and I’ve interlocked the locs.

Nice video. Please do an update..

I appreciate you talking about the slippage. I thought something was wrong with my locs.

I used hair thread to reinforce the loc and the slippage. It’s strong thread but not too thick.

Super helpful video! I was quoted 2,500.00 so I did it myself. Turned out realy nice but the slippage is definitely a con. I thought that it was just me but hearing your journey sounds so much is mine! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for “taking off” your bonnet meant to protect your hair while you “sleep!” There is no such thing as “I just thought it was cool.” Behaviors are always influenced by your surroundings.

So did you start your locks with coil instead of braids, and that’s why you’re experiencing slippage? I want these bad and I have 3c maybe 4a hair. I’m thinking I will start with braids

From Africa?

Love watching your content! I do wonder did you discuss your loc want with your hudband? I dont have a husband yet, so i feel like starting this journey now would be perfect. But i don´t know, is that even a thing you tought about? Thanks in advance!
